|Smiley face| _hitch, saute, primer, spiral, parish perish.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Actually I think this one IS clever. I laughed at the playfully amusing pair of homophones. And I think the cartoon and solution parallel each other really well.

I couldn’t find a way, Sandy, to equal or improve on today’s solution. So my “hint” had to go in another direction…

"Ceremonial"

Mitch and Mary were rich
and decided they would hitch
in a wedding at their parish,
which they would always cherish.

To prepare they bought a primer
and practiced their vows with a timer.
For their reception they planned a ballet
where dancers would spiral and saute.

On the day, their pastor did their marriage bless--
And this assured them it would be a great success.

A clever poem, Misty, almost a limerick rhythm. And very smartly using the balletic meaning of sauté.
I see Mitch and Mary as two very disciplined people, actually rehearsing with a timer (!) so as not to try their guests' patience.
I agree with their pastor: Bless 'em!

OMK, the way you manage to work all four Jumble words plus the solution into a two line verse with a title never ceases to amaze me. I keep thinking they can't all be there--but there they were. Bravo! And the brief verse itself had a theme that worked appropriately with the words. Wow!

P.S. I had to look up 'saute' to get that second meaning--and that helped me figure out the theme.

Latest word from our vet: Maggie's liver shows a mass, but it appears to be benign.
Given her other signs of good health, they will proceed with her surgery this afternoon.

Glad to hear about Maggie; now the surgery result to come!

BTW, how is Maggie holding up psychologically? This cannot have been a normal few days for her.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Maggie's surgery goes well, and that she'll have a good recovery. Not easy for a pup, but if it solves her problem, it will be wonderful.
Keep us posted on how she's doing, OMK.
