The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Jason Jones II held a laborer’s job, as it paid well and did not interfere with his personal peccadilloes. It left him time to dally with les filles, for whom he was considered a convenient and “discreet heartthrob.”
He had one phobia—airplanes!
He preferred to stay on the ground where his female companions…
“Venerated Throbs!”
Junior Jones made a bundle of cash
as a janitor, working full time.
He drank on the job, smoked plenty o’ hash,
& regaled his pals with a rhyme.
He was agile with broom and wet mop,
and sorted re-cyclables from the rest.
His plumbing kept residents this side of a hop,
while he swept ladies’ hearts with the best.
On airplanes, he was a terrible white knuckler,
but as custodian, he was a mighty swashbuckler.

Rabbit, white rabbit, is an agile fellow.
ReplyDeleteFast on his feet, his mien is mellow.
He can outrun most any hunter on the ground,
Prey to any raptor who silently swept down!
Rabbits are fecund, their signature trait.
They produce little bunnies at alarming rate!
Each bundle of joy, junior member of her clan,
Will multiply herself as fast as she can!
Barefoot and pregnant applies well to rabbits.
A female can generate a new batch, as her habit,
In only a month. But then, that's her job, see --
To raise little entrees for owl and coyote!
Keith, thanks for your help with that drawing yesterday! I mourn that paper solvers probably won't even see that that tableau is there.
ReplyDelete"Admirable Athlete"
ReplyDeleteThe junior athlete was agile
and swept through the race in great style.
He did bundle his jobs to generate
the time that he needed to venerate
the athletes that inspired him
and the fans that greatly admired him.
Of all the possibilities for yesterday’s inset drawing, Owen, I found most amusing the idea that some casual tourists among the FLA Keys might have found a leftover capsule from NASA’s Gemini program—and could think of nothing better to do than snap a “GeeWhiz” souvenir photo.
ReplyDeleteI thought your poem a real hoot, summing up familiar rabbity traits in menu items for gourmand predators.
Sadly, both Misty and I have contributed pets IRL to those appetites, but hey, we can laugh.
Life is short, however it ends.
…and the envelope, please!

For Outstanding Service to Verbal Economy!!
Well done, capturing four J-words and a solution in the first three lines of a mere six-line verse. Bravissima!!
(Please remember all the Little People in your acceptance.)

Why thank you, for your kind award, OMK--much appreciated. Have no idea why my morning's project was so compact--especially when I saw the complex verses both you and Owen gave us this morning. Both of your productions were a lovely gift!
