ReplyDeleteToday’s Jumble haiku is headed by a classic Spoonerism.
Check it out.

Yummm... Stinky caviar

poise,” knelt Epicure.

ReplyDeletePar = 2
Thanks to Wilbur’s EZ hint, confirmed by my usual start-word.

I didn’t read WC’s hints until after my solve.
ReplyDeleteWe are going “country” today, which pairs well with your account FLN OMK re Calgary Stampede. I hope that today’s American children, with the advantage of the internet, have a better knowledge of Canada. We are more than the frozen North!
Dress Code: No Denim
ReplyDeleteWith great poise
He knelt before the Queen.
There would be time tonight
For stinky cheese, caviar and celebratory noise;
But now, the plane of the sword blade
Was in sight.
"Plain Proposal"
ReplyDeletePete intended to propose on a plane,
a plan his friends thought was insane.
Yet next to her seat he knelt,
with an engagement ring in his belt.
And in spite of the airplane's noise
Pete proposed to Penny with poise.
Then wine and caviar they shared,
feeling for their wedding well-prepared.
(I know this verse is a bit dinky,
but at least it isn't stinky).
CEh! ~ You offer well-thought-out imagery of a knighthood in process. The “plane of the sword blade” is a particularly sharp evocation of the non-threatening nature of the event.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Wordle “hint,” I only question the full reveal—rather more naked than suggestive, eh?
Not too dinky, Misty, and certainly not stinky. Again, we get your fondness for romance with an airplane proposal, which Pete manages to bring off despite the awkwardness of the noise & between-seat squeezing.

What say you to the Spooner, Misty?
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since we have had occasion to spot one.

Took me forever to get the Wordle this morning, which I should have gotten much sooner:
ReplyDeleteWordle 488 4/6

Ol' Man Keith, the Spooner is probably in plain sight, but I still haven't figured it out.
Just check my title.
ReplyDeleteI got it down to two words instead of three. That was my only liberty.
~ OMK
I get the Spooner OMK and it's very clever. I'd forgotten the riddle-solution but your spoon recalled it
ReplyDeleteMisty, did you try to decipher my hint. As OMK did??
Then again C-Eh had the wordle "In plain sight"
WC
I don't think she has checked back in yet, WC.
ReplyDeleteYour hint was on target.
It made it easy. But as I've said (too many times?) W is too easy a game, even w/o hints.
And yet I was tempted to check my interp. of your hint. I figured if it lit up the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th letters of my starter word, I would have it for sure.
And it did.
Still, I guess there are degrees of subtlety. I'm afraid CEh! was being too obvious, so there was not even a bit of challenge left.
I thought her "dress code" idea was clever, but shouldn't a hint try for more of a disguise?
~ OMK
OMK, plus you know that I try to use Jumble words
ReplyDeleteBut I substituted N for P on my starter because I think we had that word as Wordle solution.
I mistakenly dropped the N on #3 else I might have birdied.
WC
I also treat the J-words openly, WC, allowing them to be seen--as long as they're embedded in an on-going context. But I think the Wordle solution, being singular, deserves special care, more disguising.
ReplyDeleteWhen all is said, however, it is just a matter of taste. I prefer to see the W-answer harder to spot. That's all.
Yes, I see how you missed that "N."
~ OMK
Busy with company today and didn’t get back here. I see that my Wordle in the title was too obvious, but it was a hard word to disguise. Perhaps I should have made my knightee a Canadian- he could have worn his Canadian tuxedo to be dubbed!
ReplyDeleteI’ll see if I can do better in future.
Misty- I loved your Plain Proposal on a plane.
Sorry Wilbur, I never got back to your yesterday's late posts. And I'm afraid I have an early medical appointment tomorrow (vaccinations) and so may not get back here until the afternoon. But I love your verses and will look forward to the ones you post tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment, CanadianEh!, and I'll work hard to get to your always delightful verses and posts too tomorrow.
