Just in time!
ReplyDeleteBlood pressure down & pulse was slow-runnin’ …
I got no response, no matter how much gunnin’.
All the signs of energy were low.
So I’m just in time for—Sunday furlough!

ADVISORY NOTE
ReplyDeleteI am still learning to handle the date changes for this blog.
I have just managed to remove future dates from the listings in the right margin. In doing so, I noticed that some of you had posted on "10 Oct. 2022," possibly thinking it was today's date. If you do not see your recent post on this page, that is probably why.
You will need to re-post below--for today's date.
Meanwhile, I will keep an eye on the calendar and endeavor to publish new dates close to midnight of each particular date.
~ OMK
Without a Sunday Jumble, it's hard to come up with a verse. So no poem from me today--just a lot of affection for everyone, and wishes that you all have a good and cheerful day.
ReplyDeleteMy warm greetings to you all! Took three tries, but I got today's delightful Wordle:
ReplyDeleteWordle 477 3/6
🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜
🟩⬜⬜⬜🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
Congrats to OMK and Misty on getting the Wordle in three guesses. I took an extra guess.
ReplyDeleteI’m busy prepping for family to arrive tomorrow for Thanksgiving turkey. I doubt I will make it here tomorrow.
Misty ~ Congrats on scoring Wordle in three!
ReplyDeleteI can't do it any better than that!
Why don't you have a Sunday Jumble?
It's in the Calendar section of today's LA Times--page B5.
~ OMK
Wow! Thank you, thank you, OMK. I just went out to my trash can, shuffled through all the newspaper sections until I found section B--and there was the Jumble on page 5. I need to get a nap but will try to do it afterwards and come back with a verse, if I can come up with one.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your helpful advice!
Too excited to get a nap now that I can do today's Sunday Jumble. So here it is--verse and all:
ReplyDelete"Royal Romance"
The prince did his best to pursue
a lady he wanted to woo.
He asked her to join his baseball league
but it ended up giving her much fatigue.
One day he bought her an ascot,
but she said she preferred a mascot.
So he got her the sweetest pooch
which the lady was ready to smooch.
Their romance now started to ripple
and they drank wine and began to tipple.
And finally the following spring
she accepted his wedding ring.
Years later he was an emperor under duress
but received daily support from his loving empress.
Very speedy, Ms. Misty!
ReplyDeleteI doubt anybody can match your pace.
Between your 2:48 plan to take a nap, then deciding otherwise, composing a 14-line poem, and posting it at 3:14, a mere 26 minutes elapsed.
I defy any of these whiz-wonders who brag of their crossword-solving speeds to try catching up to your creative streaking!
And now we have the pleasure of meeting your baseball-playing, pooch-purchasing prince!
You covered all six J-words and the solution--
and even managed to steer it to include your favored nuptial theme!
Darned impressive, I'd say!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ol' Man Keith, for tracking my timing so carefully. I usually make a whole list of rhyming words for each Jumble word, but today I went for only a single one and then just tried to figure out how to work it into a verse-story. So glad it worked! Couldn't have done it without your help, so thank you, thank you again.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for not letting your 'furlough' slow you down on this Sunday!
And congratulations also, for getting your Wordle in just three tries!
Thank you for checking in with us with your morning and later day Wordle, Wilbur.
ReplyDeleteAlso liked seeing your Wordle, CanadianEh!, and have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family tomorrow! I guess it's celebrated a little earlier in Canada than in the U.S..
And, again, thank you for all your great help today, OMK.
[Holly is amazed that she shares AA and is curious about Chet]
ReplyDeleteIt was in the Spring that I spotted him in a seedy , rundown bar
The League,ie AA, would have frowned and found my actions bizarre
But I felt led that day and pursued my instincts and the result
Was a journey of recovery and growth that finally saw it catapult
Into a relationship and the ripple effect becoming engaged
I tried to take it slow, a year is suggested, but my love I could hardly assuage.
If our game of love had a mascot it would have been Mickey Mouse
Epitomized by the story of an AA star who was once a common souse
That night he really didn't make an impression, guzzling hooch
Now I can't take my hands off him- I just want to hug and smooch
