  1. Today’s Jumble haiku:
(Full backstory: Free agent SCUBA-divers race to recover lost gems in a sunken wreck. The company that lost the jewels offers a reward to those who succeed—and an extra thousand for a quick recovery.
Two buddies have raced ahead, but when one’s oxygen runs low, they take to sharing, in the second’s system known as…)

    ”Pair Rebreathing”

    Agents: Behave with
speed! A grand’s prefixed to the
    prize as a bonus.

  3. Back online after 2 weeks without a phone or computer. I'm stuck in a rehab center, for the rest of my life if I can't get physical therapy. I don't have my laptop with me because I expected this was just going to be short term, and my phone is kaput after laying face down in a shallow puddle of kool-ade. I'm using a new phone now, but all my poems from the past 3 months didn't transfer over, so I still need the old one fixed. It turns on, but won't respond to any touch, so I think it's just the screen, not the guts of the thing that can be replaced.

  6. Rear BeefEating

    Rump roast can be grand
If pre-fixed with onions and wine
    By a chef extraordinaire.
A gent can woo his date
And behave like a proper gentleman.

  7. "Correction"

The deal the agent had planned
met demand and was treated as grand.

But this prefix did not save
    future problems down the road
and obliged the agent to behave
    more carefully up to code.

So to avoid any problems repeating
he made sure there was never any cheating.

  8. So sorry to hear about your terrible technical problems, Owen. We'll pray that things will work out that you'll soon have better contact with everyone again.

  9. Misty- your agent discovered the complexities of “deals”, and the need for codes. Thankfully he was ethical and avoided any cheating. In real life, it would be great if this was always the case. Alas, scams seem to abound.
I loved your “inner rhyming” with planned, demand and grand, plus the remaining rhyme scheme. I have trouble getting anything to rhyme. Sigh! (Can I call grand and gentleman a rhyme today?!)

  11. Thank you for your kind comment, CanadianEh!, much appreciated, especially when it wasn't my favorite Jumble collection to work with. And I always love your poems and a lack of rhyming is absolutely no problem at all. You did in fact rhyme the Jumble solution beautifully in your title today, and I was amused by how you played with 'pre-fixed' and 'A gent.' And in the end it was all there: solution and play on all the Jumble words.

  12. A couple of adages from you, CEh! And both undoubtedly true—whether speaking of the prowess of a fine chef or a real gentleman…

And Misty writes of an agent of integrity, a man who takes care of business. Both poems today dealing with honest principles. Our blog is rating high in ethical conduct!

Leave it to the maestro, to Owen himself, to bring us a touch of levity! Great to see you back, good sir!
Sorry to read of your latest trials. It is hard to read of such institutional troubles nowadays; one would hope for help from caretakers & not be forced to be so isolated w/o your laptop or working phone—and no one to offer assistance.
Can’t you get word to a supervisor?
