Today’s Jumble haiku:
(The cure for after shave…)

Dry ‘Pelt’ Condition?

Forget Witch-Hazel
post-shave. Bay-Rum’s in shiny,
indigo bottles.

FLN, Sorry to have missed everybody yesterday. I slept thru most of the daylight hours.
CEh! On Women’s Day, I was saddened to read that your Gal Guides were getting stiffed.
But then I wondered if the Scouts hadn’t been admitting females, and for how long…?
That gave me hope that they weren’t barring Guides based on gender!

Misty ~ Ray’s a smart guy—to have picked a smart girlfriend. Smart enough to board her bird in the face of oncoming blazes!
And to pay her vet bill-& keep it up to date.
I wonder, did she have it covered through insurance? We’re thinking of taking out med insurance on our new puppies. Is it a wise investment?

We are now here.
Where is here?
Here is nowhere.

Where should a werewolf wear men's wear?
Wherever a were's wear gets wear and tear!

"New Profession"

Wendy wanted to switch
and not be treated like a witch.
She wanted to forget
all those years she was in debt,
and a new profession hitch.

And so she started to sew
clothes in colors like indigo,
they were shiny and brought a new vision
to sewing as a definition.

Many women her new clothes did buy
and Wendy's income is now sky high.

Misty’s Wendy would seem to be living a latter-day version of the American Dream.
Starting her career arc struggling with debt, she works her way not as (in the old days) a desperate immigrant, but making do at low-paying Mcjobs, sewing for a living, scrimping & saving to keep afloat until she can find the right gig (or husband?) to strike it rich.

Yay! At last she parlays her talents to move beyond a lowly seamstress’s wages to become a designer—and makes it into the middle or upper-middle class!
Whew!
In these days of “income inequality” hers is, sadly, an unusual tale. All the more reason, I would guess, for celebrating her in art.

Thanks, then, to Misty for buoying our spirits.
We may look upon “New Profession” as “aspirational”… as they say.

Warn your children not to fool with the supernatural for it may be the start (inition) of a deadly tale.

Died of Inition

I will never forget
The night that I bet
A shiny new dollar
On a witch’s black collar.
Her indigo eyes
Took me by surprise;
I raced out of there with a holler.

CEh!
I wondered (still do) at the use of “inition.” I know it makes sense as an echo of “definition,” but I could only find it in obscure sources as either an archaic or mistaken spelling for “initiation.”
Is there also a way in which it means to place a bet? Then it would tie into your poem. I got a kick outta the neat little verse, rhymes and all, so hope the answer is yes!

Ol' Man Keith, thank you for the very kind comments on both of my verses--much appreciated. I liked your verse too, and would love see what an "indigo bottle" looks like.
As for pets, I'm not sure what I'd advise about getting med insurance for a pet. As I've probably said before, I loved my little dachshunds, but both of them, at different times, were taken out by coyotes when they were 3 or 4 years old--very sad. Hopefully you have a good fence that can keep yours safe. What is its name, by the way? Anyway, hope you have good luck with the sweet pup.

Owen, loved your play on words today: that "were's wear gets wear and tear."

Looks like fun Wordles, Wilbur and CE. Wish I'd had time to try one.

But CanadianEh!", your poem totally cracked me up! Betting a "shiny new dollar" (not that I've ever seen one) in a game with a witch with indigo eyes? That's a pretty wild social life--no wonder you raced out of there! Glad you're okay.

Busy day and I didn’t get back.
OMK- you reminded me of those old Witch Hazel jokes. Great haiku.
I must confess that I was stuck for a title, wanted a Spooner, and Googled that archaic definition for inition. Sorry, but it means start, beginning. I added the back story to try to weave it together. Maybe I should pretend it has something to do with betting my shiny loonie.

Owen- let me count the ways to use the Wordle! You left me tongue-tied.

Misty- Wendy seems to be excelling at her new profession. She switched to a stitch to avoid being treated like a witch!
We do stretch our minds trying to create poetry with those J words.
Thanks all for the fun.
