Today’s Jumble haiku:
(We sometimes rue our commitment to J-words, stuck as we may find ourselves, having to rhyme them at random. We ought to be rewarded with a sound effect at least. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something like this…?)

A Mechanical Herald for Verse

A chime announcing
the rhymes that accrue, from “knacks”
to “giblets”—and worse!

PS. Misty
~ Only TWO 5-letter words to choose from today.
But you can count, so I need not tell you how many in future haiku.

Hear the wind talking, silvery bells
Tinkling together, as the breeze swells.
Crystalline fresh,
Sounds each imesh
In poems that only the wafting wind tells.

Lovely, Owen! Thank you, what gracious imagery!
I have such a wind-stirred tinkler in my garden, elevated near a three-tiered fountain.
They are together on a raised section of palm fronds.
The former device makes its sounds whenever the breeze tells it to. The latter requires me to climb up to clean it & turn the water on.
Sadly, I no longer (believe I) have the energy to start the fountain.
Happily, the wind does not need my permission.

Using a rote form of poetry writing will produce a product that sounds a
Mechanic Knell

It’s easy to make a rhyme
When you have the knack.
Some words will make it chime,
Others you must throw back.
As giblets improve the turkey gravy,
Sensory words accrue points in your treasury.
Aim for dollar not nickel imagery!

"Popular Poet"

From the time she was in her prime,
Peg had a knack for producing a rhyme.
Her friends once made a bet
that she couldn't mimic "giblet.
Not for a second did Peg fret,
and her friends soon owed her a debt.

More such offers she did accrue
and soon her fan base grew.
Her techniques are never mechanical
and Peg finds poetry writing botanical.

Just back from getting my flu and Covid boosters.
At first they had my paper work wrong. They asked for my birthdate, then printed out a form for a different fellow altogether, some stranger who happens to share my exact birth year, month, and day. Hmm. I better be on the lookout the next time I check into a doctor's office with my birthdate! I don't want to be getting the wrong diagnosis!!

Then they asked if Pfizer was OK. I asked, "Does it make any difference because I had Moderna last time."
They said, "Oh, well, we have Moderna too."
So I opted for Moderna.

The good stuff. Heheheh.

CEh! ~ I think your poem set out to chase rhymes wherever they might go, but it ended up developing a bit of a theme (the giblets in the gravy) in spite of itself.
Good going!

If “botanical” means “rewardingly flourishing,” then, Misty, I believe you have bestowed a coherent wholeness on your Peg’s poetic efforts! Brava!

OMK- I think your idea of having a chime to recognize our rhymes is a great idea. Misty is the master of the rhyming couplet, and may receive the most chimes here. Sometimes mine only deserve a thunk. I LOLed at your “from knacks to giblets”.. I think our J editor may be Canadian in choosing “giblets” on this our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
I have 15 people coming on Sunday and will be AWOL tomorrow and Sunday.

Owen- I echo OMK re the beautiful imagery in your W poem.
I see from the other blog that you were not feeling well. Hope things improve.

Misty- I see that your poet Pat had the knack for rhyming that I was mentioning in my poem. She took my advice literally about the dollar not nickel imagery, and collected on the friends bets. Her “botanical” writing proves that she has the knack. Bravo!
