Today’s Jumble haiku:
(Sometimes even the cook can’t explain why the serving is undersized—especially when she is trying new methods for stirring & shaping it.
This time she scrunched the sides together, in hopes she had…)

Dealt (a) Mound

In truth she knows not
why the gumbo’s dinky. She
tackled & swiveled.

Oh say, what is this, that floats in the air,
That says it is facts, but oft brings despair?
That claims all as lovers,
But ruthlessly uncovers
Every lie that it says only it can repair!

"New Home"

When the family moved into town,
the kids almost had a melt-down.
The nearest playground was dinky,
and the pool in their backyard was stinky.

But the kids decided to be civil
and find ways their new life to swivel.
They learned how to make gumbo,
and got a new dog they named "Jumbo".

And soon they made neighborhood friends,
and now their cheerfulness never ends.

Misty ~ It is my impression that many kids today are not as adaptable as the ones in your poem.
So, your young ‘uns could serve as models for how to adjust—and why! By finding their way to making friends, they all win in the end. Good for them!
But I do hope they got their parents to drain that stinky pool.
And they got all their shots.

FLN, Your baker Hal deserved the popularity he gained.
Anyone who could devise recipes for breads for each (every?) gender (!) is a champion in my book.

Owen ~ An ultra-neat limerick, pointing to today’s Wordle!

And, Misty, FLN, I hope you’re not overlooking that my hints to you are usually continuing, even yesterday, as a 5-letter word left for you EARLY in my poems…

"Rose Is Rose" is a comic strip
About a feel good partnership.
Rose and Jimbo Gumbo are the pair
Who live their life without despair.

Pasquale Gumbo is their little boy
A well behaved pride and joy.
And that brings us to the family cat.
Peekaboo, dinky sized, does things with eclat.

How can one kitten cover an entire double bed?
Peekaboo swivels limbs across the spread!
Tho she'll tackle any squirrel that's around,
When a claw gets snagged, time for a meltdown!

I keep looking at those old boxes of souvenirs in the basement and think
Go Bye — Nope!

Truth is, you need to purge,
Don’t wait to get the urge,
Be harsh in your decisions,
There are no smooth incisions,
Make useless old mementos vanish.

Oh my! I see that I made a poem from the Saturday Jumble words. Then I read all your offerings and wondered why I didn’t have those words. That’s what happens when the paper gives you Saturday and Monday comics, crosswords and Jumbles because there is no paper published on our Canadian Thanksgiving Day.

Thanks for all your good wishes. We had a lovely family time. I am recovering today.

OMK- TRUMP, TRULY, TRUCK were the three before my final guess. phew!
Gumbo is not on my Canadian menu, but I’m not sure how you would shape it, even with much tackling and swiveling. I smiled at your haiku.

Owen- I almost missed your hiding of the W, as I was concentrating on the accuracy of your poem, with its view of the opposite.
And I loved your J poem with its comic strip characters. My favourite was the dinky cat who can swivel to take up the whole bed. I used to have a cat who could do that.

Misty- yes, moving can be a stressful experience for kids. I’m glad the kids were able to get over their disappointment with the dinky playground and stinky pool and learn to love their neighbourhood and make new friends. I’m sure the new dog helped too.

Owen, what a sweet family poem you gave us today--especially with that dear kitty "Peekaboo".

My goodness, that's tough advice for folks trying to get rid of their boxes of souvenirs, CanadianEh!! We really should all follow it, but souvenirs so often have memories and feelings attached to them, and that's what makes it tough to get rid of them.
But wonderful to have you come to the blog on a holiday! (who knew this would turn out to be part of a holiday?).
And thank you for your very kind comment on my verse!
