There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
Owen, where is your poem? The great pleasure of coming to this site is to read your poem before comments on the Jumble begin. Hope you'll post it soon.
This morning's Jumble was a delight. I got all four answers without any problem at all, and the final resolve with a lot of letters was fortunately helped by the cute cartoon, and fell into place immediately. Hope you all had such a great experience.
I had a small problem with the riddle even though I got the four Jumbles. I'm no fount of wisdom so I'm just guessing the final answer.

Misty it's just you and me . BTW. I posted that reply to Anon (@CC) so fast so I couldn't change my mind . Was I wrong? I feel we have some privacy over here . I lost my temper that guy drives me crazy
Hm. This one seemed even easier than yesterday's. It is one of the few where I sussed the final answer immediately - before beginning to crack the prelims. Then they fell one after the other - like tipsy dominoes.
Wilbur ~ I couldn't follow your argument with Anon. Maybe it was a holdover from prior postings?
Omk, it's the same guy easily recognizable and he likes to insult YR. He might as well have a name . His "style" gives it a away . He's essentially a troll . He used to go after lemony.
I was just posting and our power went out. And I hadn't saved of course! DH and I had trouble with today's Jumble. DH already had #1,2 and 4. It took a while for #3 to unscramble (and I think we have had it recently). Sometimes, I go backwards from the answer if I have a word I cannot figure out, but I could not go that way today either. I did not know Willard Wigan and LIUed. He really was a sculpture and made miniatures. When the synonym lightbulb went off and I worked with the remaining letters, the answer fell into place. But it was a workout!
Wilbur, I can't find the response you made that now worries you a little, but I think you can just let it go. We all hate those posts that insult our Corner friends, especially nice people like Yellowrocks and Lemonade, so we're on your side. I thought Yellowrocks has done a great job defending herself and not backing down. Good for her.
After solving the Jumble I forgot to come and post! Then my sisters dropped in and we visited for a while and I completely forgot.
All four words were easily unscrambled then the final answer seemed too easy! It's interesting to know Willard Wigan was a real person, Canadian Eh! Thank you for looking that up.
Like all of you I get really upset when the Anons attack a poster for no good reason except their own bias. I believe Argyle used to remove some of the more egregious ones. But (sigh) no one can take his place.
One of the hallmarks of our Corner is the civility and I like that.
Wilbur, it sounds as though Yellowrocks was a bit intimidated, and I just hope she doesn't give up her helpful posting. And so it's probably not bad that you responded forcefully to the Anon.
Many thanks for the kind offer, but I'm not into Hobbits (not sure what they are) so you will find more deserving takers.
like the CWP I breezed through this one. #3 needed confirmation that my first 3 letters were correct before appearing. The second word of the sol came easily which made the first word appear.
Look at the time. A fellow Bostonian called to say he's flying into Orlando airport .I suggested Uber . Then I realized he wanted me to pick him up. So I drove out with phil . But...
He's a troglodyte . meaning, he SHUTS his phone off. No texts . so I am driving back, sans Pkup .
Lucina, I got the five words . Misty thx .let me look again at clues. Is it SMALL FORTUNE? I should have had it at noon .
I'm heading down 75. Newspaper is at home. I'll kick myself when I see my notes.

Misty, I actually replied to the Anon@?? But, the Anon post and my reply are gone .
ReplyDeleteI was a little harsh . One of the moderators must have stepped in .
If you send YR an email add my highest regards and my wish that she never change, keep posting and trolls be damned
Ps .Do you want that Hobbit magazine I picked up at the grocery store?

Wilbur,
ReplyDeleteYou know you can always delete your own comments, right? I sometimes do that, esp. when I want to revise & post an improved version.

Thanks, yes. Doesn't that leave the message".. deleted" . Both post and reply disappeared . Good riddance.
ReplyDeleteI know the letters S M A L L must be in the riddle answer but I wasn't sure which word came first . And it left F O U N T SMALLER
WC
Ok. Here are my five letter guesses: MURAL, STONE,SMALL. Am warm?

ReplyDeleteWilbur, the last of your guesses looks pretty good to me. Has it worked for you?
ReplyDeleteWilbur, are those your answers for today's Jumble? I'm sorry to tell you they are not correct.
ReplyDelete1) means bias or tilt
2) means a food
3) means food for Pandas
4) means a lush fabric
I hope I interpreted your meaning correctly.
The final answer has small in it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the second word starts with FORT

Yep - SMALL FORTUNE.
ReplyDeleteWeird how we think differently. I got this one before solving the 4 prelim words. I'm sure you're out ahead of me on some others....
~ OMK
Yes. SMALL _____ Was my first guess and I had the seven letters but couldn't turn them around right.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble sussing themes in puzzles not to speak of being Sudoku illiterate.
