  1. On a water planet out in sector six
Subcraft carriers lead the naval mix.
Two-man subs leeched to the under-hull
Could briskly launch a squad in full.

The planet was chosen, altho scant land was there,
Because such Earth-like planets were so very rare.
Native merfolk tried to upend the colonizers.
Surface ships were prey to nautical capsizers.

The mission of the subs was keeping squids at bay.
Hard because they would so easily squirm away.
Capsizing a sub did it hardly any harm,
Ramming by a sub gave squid but slight alarm.

  2. This is just setting the stage. I'll have to build some stories on it when occasions arise.
Had some bad days recently -- a litany of the woes that come with the blessings of extra years. Mere side-effects of longevity.

  3. A stage well set, dear Owen! Good to see you back-- & out from under the thrall of that Black Bitch.
Another fairly easy task for us today. Not a bad little pun.
In comparison with the tough, later-in-the-week "big bears" of jumbles, this was a babe. I let my imagination run to think of it as a Mama Bear teaching her lil' guy the ropes. Maybe the proper etiquette for relieving himself, a simple exercise, shall we say, in Cub Pissin'.

  4. Nice to have you back, Owen--sorry to hear about the rough days. I had to work a bit to get the second and fourth words in this morning's Jumble, but the solution just surfaced quickly from under the sea of letters. Loved the complicated cartoon setting with the clouds (?) and that little bird on a stump in the background. Wonder why those guys are wearing caps, and liked the suspenders and wrist watch on one of them. Ol'Man Keith, it took me a minute to get your funny little joke at the end.

  5. Sorry, Misty, if it takes a bit of time. I know I sometimes have to go far afield to reach an appropriate rhyme. I guess I could settle for some easier hints, but I do get a kick out of where the journey sometimes takes us--from Lord Byron (!) to baby bears.
