There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
There was barking in the kennel, and baying at the moon. The dogs were all impatient for the hunt into the afternoon. The whippers-in were on the lookout, foxes for to flush, Then the dogs would be released to chase all in a rush!
But the foxes weren't the only vixens on the field that day. Marla was a cougar, and the hunt master was her prey! She'd begun when getting ready, trying on a blood-red coat, Says she thinks hers is too tight, the collar chafes her throat.
He put his arms around her, to check the fit and size. The hunt master is all business, while Marla softly sighs. That evening at the lodge, she dons diaphanous lingerie, Next to nothing in between them ... then he says "I'm gay!"
A few days ago, WC suggested "Perhaps moving up the timeline to 6:00 pm edt/est." Since the time is arbitrary, what do others of you think on it? We get 100 visits a day here, so how about a few of you lurkers joining in!
I will go along with either, but since I don't really come for the answers anyway, my opinion is not that relevant. I get a lot more fun out of identifying people's hints when the answers are not listed, though. I liked the beginning of your poem, Owen, but got lost by the end. Except I thought the way you worked in the solution was very clever!
Whew! I finally got it, but only after coming here twice, checking Owen's poems and the comments, and only on the second try I figured out the solution, even without seeing it in Owen's poem. Many thanks, everybody--a huge relief.
Sandy -- the only thing I can see as confusing are the words vixen, both a female fox and a foxy human female, or cougar, and older woman who seeks out boy toys (creating a mixed metaphor). And I did get my tenses mixed up a bit, sorry about that.
Oh, ok, that was it. I wasn't sure if it was about humans or animals. Completely missed that meaning of cougar, and was envisioning a big cat in a negligee! D'oh.
I thought this would prove difficult, but still managed to get 'er done on my iPad while lingering in bed. Can they get any easier? What's next? Nothing?
I don't have a problem with whatever time you want to make the deadline - I usually do it the night before anyway. I usually have the answers by the time I come here, but I guess you wouldn't want to make it too early for anyone who uses it for hints (hi, Misty). Since I'm doing it online (it's not in my paper), when I just can't make any headway, I get a hint; I can usually figure it out just given the first letter. Of course that's not available in the newspaper.
I'm with Mike. I work the Jumble before coming to the Blog. For those who work on paper, the online system insures I am correct for each word with a movement, and the whole Jumble moves when the sol. is correct. One does not receive this confirmation in print.
