|| || pants, moose, screwy, factor, come to pass.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

  1. That day was a strange day, on the odd news beat.
A moose in chartreuse pants was wandering a street!
Then there was the kitten, caught high up in a tree.
A hang glider grabbed the cat, set her down and free!

Fire at a fire station happens somewhere every month.
This one burnt a water tower which doused it all at once!
A tiny flying saucer came, and fired just one round.
Then it flew into a skeet shoot. No remains were found.

Indeed it was a screwy day, and factor in the date:
April first it was! So no one believes what I relate!
They are true! Come to that, I'll bet you my press pass,
You get on the odd news beat, at you they'll also laugh!

  2. A sweet poetic divertissement, my friend! I relish the idea of a UFO being taken for a skeet target.
The Jumble solution hardly requires the four feeder words. It fairly leaps to be caught.

  3. This poem made me laugh and laugh. Where did you get all those screwy ideas, Owen? Chartreuse pants on a moose is an indelible image. I figure that must be two pair for twice the fun, right? And not pink, not purple, but chartreuse!

Anyway, the jumble solution was, as OMK said, obvious. Didn't really need the clues, which was a good thing, because the solution helped me work back to get clue word four, which for some reason wasn't so obvious. I get stuck on easy words sometimes. Go figure!

  4. Another strange fact was my having STAMP for #1. Ironically, giving me two of the letters . Also unusual was getting the solution before the J's .

Everyone knows that moose prefer chatreuse
    although often sporting fuchia ties

    1. Although geese
      often like cerise.
And you sometimes see a mink
      strolling along in pink.
