Old fossil Pete knows his limit
and just how things might trend
if he exceeds three at the estaminit.
He relies on a friend
to restrain him before
he can ask for four.
But when it comes to youth & beauty--
hehee!--Pete isn't snooty.
The coot cannot ignore
them--No. A different standard applies
when sweet darlings bat their eyes.
His pal no longer dares keep score;
Ol' Pete's happy to entertain... more.

"Seniority"
Like Jack and Jill going up a hill,
the elderly couple refused to stand still.
They did their best to stretch their limit
and shared their light, and would not dim it.
The husband refused to be a fossil
and lots of projects he would jostle.
His wife felt it was her elderly duty
to do her best to preserve her beauty.
Their habit soon became a trend
as senior people did them be-friend.
And so, to spread their joy and glow
the couple put on a one-night show.
A crowd of seniors did them bless
by cheering and lauding their success.
Well, Misty ~ Looks like your Jack & Jill are handling the aging process better than my Ol' Pete.
Pete fancies himself something of a roué. ( At least he's smart enough to know when to stop ordering wine.)
But it looks like Jack is keeping mentally active with his "projects," and Jill is preserving health & beauty.
I liked your rhyming "dim it" to "limit."
I settled for an old term for a bistro, and instead of its proper "et" ending, I went with "it" to suggest an Amurrrican pronuniation.

Well, I learn something new from you every day on the blog Ol' Man Keith.
Today it was "estaminet." Never heard that term in the 65 years or so that I've been an English speaker, and looked it up--"a small cafe in France that sells alcoholic drinks."
I doubt I'll get back to France in my remaining years, but if I do, I will insist on visiting an estaminet, and having a glass of Merlot.
I see, Wilbur, the sponsors really ought to get together to synchronize timing.
It seems Lois' sponsor is more worried about Chet than about Lois. Lois is further along in her recovery.
On the other side, it looks like Chet's sponsor is more worried about...Chet!
Chet is indeed the newbie.
So no need to synchronize after all. The sponsors already think alike. They both know the ropes, and they are the exact same ropes.
