Why the doctor won't come near:
ReplyDeleteTelehealth house calls are here.
Now on Android phone,
Or on Windows at home,
Your doctor can appear loud and clear!
ReplyDeleteToday’s Jumble haiku x 3:
(The Vodou priests sent
her 4 miles for the right kind
of “sacred meal,” and …
She undertook ops
to save the herbs she found there,
to…)
“Go Far for Food”
Witch doctors were her
saviors. New rings of garlic
focused fiends away.
~ OMK
You’ve caught onto it, Owen, the true meaning of the old jingle.
ReplyDeleteAn app,
Or an iPad a day…
~ OMK
Oh, Food! No Sugar
ReplyDeleteThe doctor wrung his hands in despair.
His patients thought he was their saviour.
They failed to focus
On the natural remedy for disease;
No hocus-pocus,
Diet and exercise.
More apples please!
Owen- is the W jumbled in the last line or referred to my omission of the IOS phone? Or both?
ReplyDeleteOh, I see that OMK sees it as the inference by omission.
OMK- you started Wordle with your vowel-rich starter, but what was guess two?
Our twist on the J title was slightly different today. But at least the words (and even the W) fit together more easily today. I had to look to find the J word you hid well in line two.
"Inference by omission". Yep, that's what I was doing, tho I didn't know what to call it.
ReplyDelete"Salvation"
ReplyDeleteHiding behind a locked door
the girl heard the door bell wring,
and when she learned it was the doctor,
she told them to let him in.
She had not been feeling good
with her focus blurred and ajar,
but the doctor understood
and has been able to help her so far.
This has made her spirits soar--
she has finally found her savior.
Oh Misty- I LOLed. He must have been a “spin” doctor to make the door wring!
ReplyDeleteBut at least your poor girl is feeling better, and has moved from hiding to having her spirits soar.
Some religious metaphor with your title and the doctor being her saviour. (This Canadian’s spellcheck adds the U, giving me another smile.)
Third smile for her focus being ajar and not the door!
Thanks for making my rainy afternoon cheerful.
Glad to put a name on it Owen (and glad we didn’t have to unJumble “appear loud”).
Do I detect a personal preference, CEh, in "natural" medical therapy over knives and pills?
ReplyDeleteHow wrong those fail-focus patients were, wanting a "saviour" instead of a "savior"!
Misty ~ Your patient must have had a terrible illness, cowering in misery behind her locked door. A good thing the doctor was no phony, not one of those "saviour" types.
As to my W, CEh! my 2nd try was aimed at a swift conclusion.
And in retrospect, I may have been subconsciously influenced by a similar word in Owen's last line.
My 2nd word was APACE.
~ OMK
OMK- I am a firm believer in preventative medicine. We cannot abuse our bodies for years with poor diet, no exercise, poor work/life balance, and then expect a pill or surgery to fix our resulting maladies. But I am not one to advise a vitamin/nutrient concoction or the latest fad diet. In my profession, I saw many people who wanted to pop a pill for every ailment, and not give up any of the poor habits/food/dare I say alcohol, that were causing or aggravating the problem.
ReplyDeleteOf course, there are diseases that cannot be prevented by even the best of lifestyles, and modern medicine has made many advances. And people cannot be blamed for socio-economic conditions that contribute to poor diet and lifestyle.
It is very complicated!
Our medical system spends the majority of its time putting out fires instead of encouraging people (and society as a whole) to prevent them.
Rant over!!
Ah, I will move Apace - one of our A words.
