The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Dang!
I forgot what I was going to say, guys.
It was right on the tip of my tongue, and then a brief whoozit wiped it away.

As Bilbo explored the castle, he noticed a river leafing through it.
Down below were barrels being emptied and readied for transmit
To Lake Town. The barrel master abode in a makeshift hutch
From which he supervised the hoisting of barrels and such
Merchandise to be sent down stream. An idea began
To spawn in the clever brain of our intrepid Hobbiton man.
Float the party downstream. Bilbo knew that the dwarves would not
Gladly accept such a crazy scheme. So he fibbed about the plot.
There'd be no turning back. And luck favored our dashing hobbit
The guards had imbibed too much wine, it was time to spring the gambit.

Enjoyed your Bilbo verse, Wilbur--but a river leafing through a castle? Fun to see all the puzzle words in the poem, many thanks for that too.
I had to think for just a moment about the second Jumble word, but the others all came quickly, and the solution turned up right away, without any hesitation or work at all. Only I was a little confused about the gender of the Jumble reader for a moment--because of the ambiguous haircut. But the fun and colorful cartoon made it pretty clear that this was a jazzy young woman who enjoys browsing books about trees (?). Fun Jumble, all around.

Misty, I was thinking that leafing through could mean meandering through. I looked it up and misinterpreted.

I likened it to "leafing" through a recipe notebook looking for a lobster stew recipe

Truth to tell, I don't know what to say. I enjoyed the jumble; nothing too difficult, though I waited for all the letters before seeing it. Okay pun.

Really liked Bilbo's story continuation. Here's an unrequested suggestion:

"As Bilbo roamed the castle he saw the river with a leaf flowing through it"

I kind of like yours, but if you don't, then this could be an alternative.

Sandyanon, your suggestion is perfect! Though we still love your poem however you leave (leaf) it, Wilbur.

Owen, I hope you're ok, and maybe just getting some more sleep.

I've amended the first line

As leaves fell throughout the castle he saw a river winding through it.

Fitting four J's and a riddle-solution can occasionally make things a tad awkward.
