Todayโs Jumble haiku:
โA Fun Editionโ
This maize is flinty,
iconic of a gritty
sort of shrouded ears.

Some things are truly a matter of fact.
Scientific! โtheyโre completely far from abstract.
Whether citing theory or a datum, one must always be โโฆ.. .โ

Betty and Becky were together for years
Their comedy brought audiences to tears!
But vaudeville died,
And so they cried
At the demise of the extinct act of theirs!

When the harvest is in its last days
One field may be left standing tall.
Then mowers come, cut thru this wall,
Leaving behind an amazing maize maze!
The farmer's had a year to plan it out,
A devious labyrinth, with cul de sacs.
Moving forward may require back tracks
Finding a way by a different route.
The Maze Master, with a heart of flint
Gives hope of freedom from this distress,
Then dashes it with loops in this iconic nest!
Some folks definition of fun, this isn't!
At last they're out, but just how is shrouded --
So they'll try again if it's not too crowded!
I didnโt think my poem needed a backstory, but perhaps it helps to know the corn felt โsandyโ to the bite, suggesting it had gone offโin a defunct sort of way.

Fun Edition
It was an exact copy
Of the iconic Shroud of Turin.
But it was full of lint
We were amazed our joke was believed.
"Amazing"
We were amazed to find the maize
in our garden had become a craze.
And we still don't have a hint,
why it appeared next to the flint.
The whole business was ironic
and certainly not iconic.
We refused to have the maize plowed
since it did nothing shroud.
In the end it was a fun condition
that gave our garden a new definition.
I hope, Misty, your gardeners made a mint from their popular maize.
Isn't that what good capitalists do? --once their product catches on as a "craze"?
If it was such a true copy, CEh, no matter with added lint, doesn't that mean folk are now believing there are TWO Shrouds of Turin?
What do the legends say about that? Was He wrapped up twice?

Ol' Man Keith, how could ears be covered by something gritty? With sandpaper, maybe? Hope that never happens to any of us.
But your Wordle hint this morning was a delightful gift! Thank you so much for that!

CanadianEh!,
So sorry that the story of the Turin Shroud
will always be covered by a cloud.
Wilbur, we hope you're still able to read,
and we hope you're recovery will succeed.
Ol' Man Keith,
You deserve a verse from me too
since every morning you hive us a haiku.
OMKx I swear I didnโt see your title before I made mine. I was pressed for time today and no rhymes came to mind. I must admit that my premise is a little thin.
I enjoyed how you all took MAISE and maze.
I may not be here much for the next week. Grandchildren are coming and I will be โup to my earsโ. (Yes that is a corny pun!)
Hi, wanted to tell you all that I'll be out of town tomorrow (Saturday) and may not be able to check in till late, or at all. Have a good day.
Those "ears" were of maize, Misty, corny as that may seem...
