|| || annul, ensue, gritty, devour, vented (his) anger.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

The dame walked into my office
First thing she pulled out her wallet.
Wanted proof her old man was boffing
Some trick when he said he was golfing.
Then she could get their knot annulled,
And by her lover she could be consoled.
It was a smoggy day, the air felt gritty.
That's what you put up with in the city.
But the golf course was another tune,
The greens devoured smoke and fume.
Her husband was easy to be found
He was playing a round, not playing around.
My telephoto lens wasn't getting much,
Until I saw him miss an easy putt.
An argument ensued about the matter,
To vent he threw his clubs into the water!
Drove home early, found his wife in bed
With her lover. Angry still, he shot them dead.
And that's why I can't pay my rent today.
Poetry noir; it's great. Your creativity is flowing, Owen. I do so look forward to reading your poems every day.
This jumble was pretty easy, though both the clues and solution took a few moments of thought. The cartoon seemed more real than funny.
Got all four Jumble words this morning but had trouble with the solution. That's when I come to Owen's poem for help, and it worked. Many thanks, Owen.
I knocked this off fairly quick. Owen, this was fabulous. Not only do you have the words but a poem that works on its own.
Your pair in the CC were great too

But I would change devoured to "devoid of"
If I get your intent
WC
But it's a clue word.
Oh ok. I did it but fidndi have my newspaper. I just enjoyed

Again I forgot to post this morning! As soon as I solved the Jumble, which wasn't difficult, I got to work on organizing my tax papers. It has taken an extraordinarily long time for all the necessary documents to arrive this year. The one with my church contributions was wrong when it first arrived so had to contact them for a new one and that took about two weeks. Usually I'm on this by the first week of February.
Owen, that is so impressive! I marvel at your fertile brain! And as I said the J itself was fairly easy with the illustration almost giving it away.
You are all fun to read!
