Daisy was looking for a man,
A cowboy, not just any ya-hoo.
She wanted one with a leathered tan,
Not just any brawn would do!

She had him pictured in her mind,
A "pardner" who'd make her woozy,
Who'd lasso her with his taciturn line,
His face? She wasn't as choosy.

He'd harbor no ill-will towards folk
Not of any race, nor sex, nor creed.
But by the Code of the West he spoke,
Exhale it with every breath he'd breathe!

Good to see you back, Owen!
You have been missed, good sir. I hope you managed to enjoy some rest, that your health has been good and your world fairly calm.

Dancing in Black & White
-or-
Adieu Hue
Watching Fred & Ginger tonight
as down to Rio they flew...
Even sem color that town was a sight,
its harbor curved like a Q!
The Carioca was the featured dance,
with vaqueiros lassoing their damas.
Dolores del Rio exhaled pure romance,
and the aerial scenes added drama.

But the highlight by far--the film's real doozy?
Rogers & Astaire--and their wicked Wacky-Woozy!

VERY good to see you back, Owen, both here and on the Corner. I was happy to see both of your poems, but especially enjoyed the paean to birds on the Corner.

This jumble was no problem. Easy clues and a clever homophonic phrase for the solution.

"Love our Poets"

With Owen and Keith
I just can't compete,
or with Wilbur as well,
all three are just swell.
So today I feel humble
And won't rhyme the Jumble.
But I send all a "Thank you!"
and a grateful "Woo-hoo!"

Sandy ~ Good morning. It's a pleasant 77 right now in Irvine. I hope the relative break in temp in these morning hours is offering you some relief.

Ah, Misty ~ Your modesty undervalues your fresh ear for cadence & verbal chiming.
We don't compete,
We merely treat...

(one another, that is.
And good day to you.

Good morning, OMK. Accuweather says it's 77° in Seal Beach too, but that with humidity of 73% it's a real feel of 86°. I just turned my fan on!!

Hoping to have a nice day. Watching, but not listening to, the Republican convention.
Seems like a combination praisefest/coronation/speechmaking orgy. They sure got the nomination out of the way fast. Hope that's not too political.

The annual gathering at Hogwarts had Hedwig as emcee
Harry and Ginny harbored hopes of winning the trivia bee
The contest would be held outside where the antelope ran free
A strange bovine was among them, Harry asked "Who's he?"
Ginny responded, "Snape lassoed him on a Safari last fall"
Further speculation was put on hold at the sound of Dumbledore's call.

For first prize name that African beast? But no one there knew who.
Harry guessed okapi, "eland?" was Ginny's first choice.
Then the antelope sauntered over and they heard Hedwig's voice.
Yes, wizards and witches, boys and girls the owl exhaled "Hoo, Gnu".

Terrific poems this morning, Owen, Wilbur, and Keith. What a great poetry corner we have--simply wonderful, along with Sandy's always great remarks. You can't get a week off to a better start than this!

And here's Wilbur with a strong contribution. I wondered, though, where was the word that rhymes with choosy and doozy?
Still, I got a great kick from your build-up to, and pay-off with "Hoo, Gnu." Your kicker--and the solution itself--can't help but remind us of Misty's tag-word.
Woo-Hoo, y'all!

Sandy ~ You must get terrific reception in your area. I can't get the RNC broadcast until this evening! (Not that I'm looking forward to it.)

OMK, I was watching CNN. I don't know if they were showing the whole convention; I mostly saw (not heard) Trump speaking.

We're birds of a feather, Sandy.
Most of the time when I am indoors, I sit facing my desktop computer, while CNN is on my TV screen--muted--behind me.

My OMK avatar, the Fowler Owl (sketched in red to your left), welcomes today's avian companions in the Jumble.
I chose the Owl because it is the rare bird that sits atop our surname's crest. It's an unusual mascot for an English family name, but it fits the old family motto, Sapiens qui vigilat.
Family oral tradition is that the motto and the Owl were conferred because a distant ancestor did well on sentry duty.

PS.
And of course I am not overlooking the convergence of the solution & these strigiformic signs & symbols with Misty's "Woo-HOO."

And isn't a fowler someone who hunts birds??I

BTW, I read and enjoyed all the poems today. Who knew Wilbur would take us back to Hogwarts?

Ol' Man Keith said...

Yes. In some states, during hunting season, you purchase a fowler's license.
But the word is also used for someone who takes care of birds, along with Falconer and Hawke, &c.

Hard to believe it has been over twenty yers since I could get a good laugh from new students at our fall convocation by greeting them as "Scholars of Hogwarts Academy!"
