OMK- well the J words took us in a totally different direction today. What a present from Santa. Loved your title. We have a lamp made by an uncle of DH from a bomb shell. Not exploded yet!!

Fred was a finalist for the prize
which delighted him as a big surprise.
His poem did normal standards defuse
and made readers laugh
with its tries to amuse,
full of lines that were clever and snappy,
and made everyone feel happy.
And so, long after the contest had passed,
Fred still felt it had been a blast.

My first attempt to make the J-words cohere was set at a poetry slam. But I couldn’t make that work, so abandoned it.
You managed to bring it off! Kudos!

My first reading of your post, CanadianEh! confused me. I read “DH” as Damar Hamlin because he is so much in the news.

THANKS for posting the obit, Wilbur. I knew of Frank, of course, but did not know him personally. His production of The Grapes of Wrath was extremely fresh and inventive--and had many imitations.
