Today’s Jumble haiku:

Carping? She Rants!

The winner got the
stereo. Jill came third, for
the topaz scarf. Yay?

Could not have

The Wordle of late cut close to the bone.
To call out the FIEND raised a groan and a moan.
‘Tis an unhappy word to call an old dame a …..!

She wasn't quite a perfect clone,
Left and right had switched zone.
A mirror image
From a young age,
Became wise woman when full-grown.

My mother's sister built a house
Together with her hammering spouse.
In a construction competition
She won a prize with her submission!

On the other hand, my father's sister
Worked indoors, summer and winter.
Making desks and stereo cabinets
For sis-in-law's buildings' inhabitants!

Between the two, a furnished home
Was there for me, when I was born.
There under topaz skies I grew,
Till I joined a construction crew.

I cut scarf joints, lumber to enhance,
As apprentice to my carpenter aunts!

I need to admit, I'd never heard of scarf joints until I looked up alternate definitions for this poem.

Memories of a favourite vehicle smashed in a foolish accident caused by speeding.

Repents Can’t (replace) Car

It was a winner,
With T-top and stereo,
Topaz paint job and leather inner.
Man, could it go!
I took my cronies for many a ride;
(The ladies needed a scarf);
We travelled far and wide.

FLN- sorry, I didn’t get back. Enjoyed you all.

OMK- today’s J reveal was difficult to Spooner. You went in a slightly different direction than I did. The prizes sure did go down in value from first to third (unless that was a Hermes scarf!).

Owen gives us rhymes for the W, and a more positive view on the meaning. With age comes wisdom (hopefully).
I lived your Carpenter Aunts poem with its topaz skies and scarf joints. I see that you substituted “won a prize” for the J word.
You always have an imaginative take on the J words.

“Loved” not “lived”

"Lovely Evening"

Walter got a prize as a winner
and took his lovely wife out to dinner.
They had a great meal on the wharf,
where he gave her a topaz ring and a scarf.

Back home their stereo played a lovely tune
and the air was fragrant with perfume.
Next day Walter resumed his carpenter job
while his wife with warm thanks and much pleasure did sob.

OMK, who wouldn't love a topaz scarf! And, personally I think we should call an old dame on her phone.

Owen, your second long verse was simply fabulous. If we had a collection of the most wonderful verses on this blog, I would vote for your amazing one today--simply terrific!

Wilbur, sorry I didn't have time or a chance to try to compete with your Wordle, but maybe tomorrow.

CanadianEh!, sorry to hear that that cool car didn't survive! I bet a lot of folks would have loved to drive it!

See you all tomorrow!

Walter was a winner, Misty, and treated his wife to dinner. But I gather his prize wasn’t the dinner—and not necessarily any of the named items—the ring, scarf, or the stereo.
It may remain a mystery, adding to the aura of the dinner date!

Seems a wonderful auto, CEh!, a set of wheels to die for,
at least within that age range & mileage stats.
And cronies (not crones) were the right proper mates back in the day.
What is it we never find a car to match that peerless sweetness of youth…?
