Turns out (as Owen must know) there’s already a link to this site on the Crossword Corner – and a reciprocating link here to the CC site. We can be forgiven for not knowing this, as we were not forewarned, and they are both buried (like final answers?) in sidebars.
The link here is embedded in the verbiage to our right, and the link over there is listed under “Crossword Links.”
The latter can be winkled out if you are motivated and know where to look among the long list of 60 to 70 links. At least they are in alphabetical order, so you will find it under the title, “Jumble (Owen).”
C.C. took the trouble to point this out to us yesterday. So as much as any of us have tried to help Owen drum up business, we’ve been chasing non-domestic Anatidae so far. I’m sure he would agree that new ideas are more than welcome.

Their goal simply stated, to corner future markets,
Launched from planes in flight, or atop of giant rockets!

(I double-checked to see it's now included in the list even back in May, before anyone had mentioned the Jumbles, so it's in the permanent layout.) (And I ego-scan the blog for mentions of Owen, so I'm certain it wasn't there yesterday morning!) So congratulations on a job well done! BTW, David Hoyt is active on Facebook. Jeff Knuerk is there, too, but pretty much inactive. Anyway, I suppose you could comment of Rex Parker's blog or something.

Yes, I checked too to be sure the link wasn't just added yesterday. But you're saying she - or someone - took the trouble to go all the way back several months to cover their tracks!
That seems like an extraordinary effort to avoid looking like it's a late addition. Why? Just to avoid having it seem a response to our recent effort?!
Anyway, I don't think it solves the problem of attracting others to this site. The CC link is so deeply buried, it still depends on people seeking it out after they're already motivated to come here. The big question is how to get them interested in the first place.

Today's Solution reminds me of a Broadway play I saw as a kid, set in Lancaster PA & titled Plain and Fancy.
This wasn't that.
The sidebars are part of the layout, not anything set up that day. Make a change, and the next time a page is called up, it will be generated with the new layout, no matter what the date is. No effort to deceive involved. And despite being in a long list, CC made our entry in bold, so it does stand out!
Ok, this three-person cartoon simply confused the heck out of me! We need to allow for creativity, and I never want to crimp the cartoonists' style, but what kind of agenda could these guys have had when they magicked up a third Wright brother??? Google to the rescue, and then the answer was as plain as the mustache not on Charlie Taylor's face. Two brothers, one long-time assistant. Whew!
But he really did have one. It was Wilbur who went bare-faced, as the old photos show. I LIU.
Fun Jumble this morning. I had to work a little to get #2 and #4, but got them and the solution was as plain as day after that.

Ol'Man Keith, thanks for all the hard work. Now I'll have to see if I can find that link on the Crossword page. I've been having to copy the Jumble address from my e-mail for weeks now, and a simpler solution would be helpful.

I love this! Not precisely sci-fi, but space oriented and topical to boot.
The cartoon is very accurate. From left to right: Orville (with the widow's peak), Charlie Taylor, and balding, clean shaven Wilbur.
Plus it's Charlie, who made the prop engines, who's proposing to add more of them...
Yes, I looked them up, and was very interested to find out about Charlie Taylor's major contributions.
When you think about it, he was the one who made flight possible. Centuries earlier Leonardo had worked out the aerodynamic principles. He would have flown back then - if only he had the engine power.
I put JUMBLE on my favorites then just go right to it from there. Excellent poem, Owen. You really captured the essence of the topic.
Today's words were easy but it took me too long for the solution though it was plainly simple.
I found the link, Ol'Man Keith--this will make coming to Jumble much more plain and simple.
I didn't see the solution right away. But I went back to basics & solved the 3-letter word first.
Once its DNA was eliminated, the remaining words leapt out.
Forgot to ask you, Ol'Man Keith--was 'Plain and Fancy' really set in Lancaster, PA? That's where I spent my teens and where my Dad and brother still live. I'll be going there in November to spend Thanksgiving with them there.
