The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

He wanted the date to go just right.
The restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf seemed nice.
There was wine to soothe the salsa's sear,
What happened later was what caused the fear.

He was driving her home when she had a fit,
As she saw a delayed allergic reaction hit!
He detoured to the nearest emergency room,
And prayed the date wouldn't end with her doom!

An epidreme pen saved her, she was free to go.
But a once-dormant gene would now cause her woe,
Until a D.N.A. therapy set things right.
Her doctor called the gene, "The splice of life!"

Well, I had trouble with both the third and fourth Jumble word this morning, and so came to your poem for help, Owen. And there they were--my two missing words. Now I had all the letters, and with their help the Jumble solution popped right up. I now went back to re-read your poem and found it delightful the way you build a complicated little story out of those four letters. Many thanks for that additional treat, Owen. Boy, that sure looks like a mean trainer in the Jumble cartoon doesn't it?

I went very fast today although I did jot letters for #3 and the riddle. But once I got the first two words the rest fell .

Oh the dread of a cheap date and a $1200.00 EpiPen. Or whatever the crooks extortionate price is for that which can be produced for 69 cents.
