The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

There will always be a politician who swaggers,
One with an ego whose size simply staggers!
Who keeps the whole gov'ment in a whirl,
And insists that only he can save the world!

His adherents will cling to him like glue.
In that group's eyes, no wrong can he do!
For a time, his solutions seem to work.
Results that his detractors cannot shirk.

But hubris will sure make him rue the day.
Some flaw will be exposed by exposé!
All he'd accomplished, the right with the wrong
Will be tainted and negated for ever so long!

I do hope there will - not - always be such a politician, Owen. Your poem is too evocative to be comfortable. In the end, however, I hope -- tainted, negated, and terminated!!

The jumble wasn't difficult, though the fourth clue took a few seconds longer than the others. But once the letters were there, the solution, a pretty clever play on words, was obvious.

Owen, today's verse reads like a news bulletin, a front page report on current events. I agree with Sandy--in the hope that such a leader (or leaders) will not be among us much longer.

I had a lot more than a few seconds on #4. I even looked up tangee thinking tangey. Tangee is a popular cosmetic line.

Yes, I suppose looking at the four words one can't help but think of the current political landscape.

What could be more fun than a dog Jumble, and I loved this one. But, like Ol' Man Keith and Sandyanon, I had trouble with the fourth word and had to come to your poem for help, Owen. And there it was, right at the end--many thanks! I then went back to read your poem again, and, oh my, I could see why it is depressing. It sure does describe our present situation, doesn't it?

But back to the cartoon. I actually got the solution even without the fourth word and found it delightful, especially with that sweet dog wagging its tail like that. And how neat that the drawing gave all the pups different colors. Well, hey, I'm a dog person, and if my dachshund Dusty could read the paper, he'd also love this one.
