The gavel banged, the sentence given,
Ten to twenty-five years in prison.
Billy was led back to his leaky cell,
Left there for on his fate to dwell.

But that leak came from a loose stone.
Diligent effort dislodged one alone,
Then when two, then three more followed,
Billy squeezed thru the hole he'd hollowed.

He left the small town jail behind him.
Stole a horse, they wouldn't find him.
He had a lead by far on pursuit and all,
And knew some tricks to baffle the law!

Nicely done, Owen: Billy seems not only unfazed by his prison ordeal but un-jailed as well.
I don't believe I've heard of another prisoner who made his exit so quickly. The length of his sentence suggests a serious crime, so I hope he isn't heading to any of our neighborhoods.
Ah, but then he might just have rec'd one of those mandatory drug sentences. Run, Billy, run!

Sorry I've been a slacker recently. Thanks, Misty, for your concern. I am not sure what's been wrong with me. I haven't been in pain, not since the first night, but have been extremely tired--sleeping a lot, weak & listless. I thought it might have been food poisoning. I don't have any appetite but force myself to subsist on chicken soup, occasional spoons of mac salad, & 1 or 2 shortbread cookies.
I am feeling slightly better each day, so maybe Monday will be the breakthrough....

I'm sure nobody needs a hint with today's EZ solution, so I'll just say that my patio grill has a shelf for cooked items, called the fry bar. 'Nuff said?

Loved your poem about Billy, Owen--a delight.

So glad you're back, Ol'Man Keith, but sorry to hear about the tummy problem. You're taking good care of yourself, though, and that's great. Hope you feel better soon.

The Jumble was so easy, I almost didn't believe it. All four words came without any problem, and a two-word five-letter answer? Woohoo! I'm not a golfer, so it was a treat to get this instantly. The color cartoon is cute. So golfer's don't wear socks? Who knew? And, Ol'Man Keith, your puns always crack me up.
