The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Despite the title, the subject of today’s verse may be guardedly said to be held “in bad odor.”
”Talented Ted”
This modest lil’ ditty
maybe ain’t so pretty,
but it’ll get the job done, that I ken!
The refrain is “Oh, hell, he
is always so smell-y!”
For Edward we sing it
again & again!

And the haiku redaction…
A modest ditty,
we sing of smelly Eddie,
again & again.

This is the kind of pun that makes you laugh and groan at the same time. Maybe a bit more groan than laugh!
"Courtship"
Kathy was so pretty
her boyfriend wrote her a ditty
which was sweet and also witty.
To Ken she was a goddess,
the hottest girl, but modest.
He treated her with sweet jelly
and flowers fragrantly smelly.
His gifts were so talented
that her dearest thanks she sent.
After dating various men
Kathy never dated again
and just married her dear Ken.
Ah, Misty, today I see you detailing the different courtship styles of men & women.
Ken seems to have been absolutely devoted to his goddess, Kathy, from (as they say) the "get-go."
She, on the other hand, chose to breeze through "various men."
Fortunately, Ken had winning talents for selecting flowers and jelly.
Those did the trick.
While covering all the J-words, hot, pretty, modest Kathy said Yes to dear, talented Ken.

Loved your smelly Eddie poem, Ol' Man Keith--much more clever and funny than my usual blah-romance poem. Many thanks for being so kind and not at all critical of its predictable recurrence.
My only good excuse for my silly and boring romanticism is that I didn't find the love-of-my-life until I was almost 50, and still think about him with love and gratitude every day for our wonderful 23 years of marriage--something I never expected to have. I guess my poems show that I miss him every day.
That's beautiful Misty. Keep up the romance there's plenty of salt from the rest of us.
I've got to get goin on my Adventutes of Sherlock Holmes. I Was traveling all day today. VA eye exam with dilation. Then lunch at WingHouse with an old friend. The Fish&Chips were very good . Cod.

Sandy, when I finally realized the card sharp was an eagle and saw CLAW the riddle-solution popped.
And...
All the roses from the bower
Can't negate Ed's need for a shower
Edward, you really, really oughta
Soap down good in the shower
Again and again we say for sure
Romance begins or ends par l'odeur
Thank you, Wilbur, for your kind words.
And I hope OMK will see your verse! I think he'll be so happy to see you urging smelly Eddie to get himself a shower. If he does, it will all end well!
I did see it—and I am pretty sure Ed/Ted appreciates the attention.
Ah, yes… He is sending a message to Wilbur through me, a question:
Can’t one be in “good odor” as well as bad?
