The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

"Tough Job"
Bert ran a postal station
dealing with mail across the nation.
He made sure full-time employees
were all equipped with office keys.
As an expert he was took time to assert
that his workers should not flirt or tell dirt.
But one worker managed to stumble
and pummel another who did grumble
when his eyelid was hurt,
and he complained to Bert.
So Bert negotiated a peace
which did both workers appease.
In return for his group's hard labor
he wanted them to savor
a special lunch with fondue
that was served with a sugary stew.
And so, once again his work place
is filled with agreement and grace.
Afraid I don't get this solution as a pun. The phrase is definitely in the language, but I'm missing any additional meaning. Yes, it's a clock factory, but so ???
Sandy, try switching the position of the hyphen.
Sated clock-workers
Owen, that does make it more connected. I just think it's awkward to make time synonymous (sort of) with clock.
Oh well, I've never constructed a pun; probably not easy.
Sorry, Misty, to be so late checking in. I hoped at least one of our colleagues would show up on my “day off.”
Your poem covers quite a transition for a postal clerk—or manager—as Bert goes from handling the mail “across the nation” to handling his workers.
Looks like he goes from refereeing fights to being the chef with a magic touch in the kitchen—or in the post office’s back room!
I vote for Bert for MVP, Most Valued Postal guy!

Keith, thank you, thank you, thank you, for checking in with us.
When I didn't see you here or on the Puzzle blog today I got really scared that something might have happened. And I was going to turn off my computer when I thought I'd take a last look here on the Jumble to see if you might have checked it, and Yay! Yay! you did. Thank you so much--I am so relieved and will now have a good night's sleep.
