The term used for Mother varies with the country. Canadian to British usage is
Mom, M(edi)um, Mummy

Mum dressed middle child
in medium size summer clothes.
Sweet!

"Motherhood"

British Molly cherished becoming a mummy
and happily patted her growing tummy.
For a quick summer break her husband rented a suite
and on the beach Molly could rest off her feet.

A month later in the middle of the night
Molly felt a pang that gave her a fright.
But next day this tedium became a medium
as Molly at last became a happy mum.

Here’s OMK’s post for today. It was on yesterday’s postings.

I was a little worried when I posted my Wordle result here earlier and there was nothing from OMK.
Hope you join us later.
But I found your haiku for today. Wow, I need to “unmuddle” it. The mummy’s sweet suite is its tomb (like the Pyramids) to preserve the body from the heat and cold. But having winter feel like summer? Is that the muddle?

I will admit that my creation is not a true haiku with that 8 syllable middle line and single syllable last line. But I rather liked its effect and did not try to change.

Misty- you used Mummy in the British way also, with your British Molly mummy. I love the rhyme with tummy, and the sweet story of her pregnancy and birth experience (and her caring husband).

CanadianEh!, thank you so much for all your offerings today, beginning with your Wordle. If you ever feel like giving me a Wordle clue--like maybe second or third word you tried--I might try a Wordle again too sometime.

But most of all, thank you for your delightful haiku, and I especially liked having your mum dress her middle child in middle sized clothes. I guess her older child will get a larger outfit, and the youngest one a tiny one. Makes perfect sense, and gives us delightful images. And thank you for finding and posting Ol Man Keith's haiku as as well. I hope he returns to us tomorrow.

Oh dear! I fear that OMK is not well, as today’s site is not updated.
We can just keep posting here Misty, and hope that he can join us later.

Misty- try today’s Wordle. It is a number.
I have given clues to my first and second guesses - first clue should be Box (it is a popular starting clue).

CanadianEh!, I used your suggestions and tried Wordle and it worked on my second try. And the site said it copied my Wordle on my clipboard(?), but then nothing happened. I wasn't able to post it so people could see it. I'm not sure what to do, but at least I gave it a try. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

This is Keith’s wife, Janice. I wanted to let you know that Keith passed away last night. I hope you all get this message.

Janice- I am so sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences to you and the family. We will miss Keith, both here and on the crossword blog. He was such a gentleman, and encouraged me to try my hand at some poetry and haiku writing. I have enjoyed his friendship here.

CanadianEh!, I would be so happy if you would send me an e-mail at mnorris@uci.edu. We could still continue to trade Jumble verses there, every day, or on some days, if you would like. If I hear from you, I'll make a verse from this January 1 Jumble words and post it to you.

Losing Keith and our blog are really big changes in our lives, aren't they? At least in the mornings of our lives. It would be nice to find a way to continue.
