Ogden was a dunce, there was no disputing that.
Sometimes he would sit with his big conic cap.
He didn't know his times tables, in fact could barely add.
But the worst of all, it was his spelling that was bad!

Sometimes he forgot where double letters were to go.
Like when the captain went below, instead he went to bellow!
Sometimes he got confused, then new phrases he would coin.
He didn't know what loin was, so the bo'sun girded up his groin!

Sometimes instead of adding letters, he would let them free.
So when the helmsman took the wheel, instead he took a wee.
But don't feel bad for Ogden, rite spelling's just opinion.
He sold his ship self-driving-app for a kool foreteen-millyon!

Thelma was a titmouse, but had no titmice friends.
When titmice would gather, no invitation they'd extend.
It was because her singing was to titmice a disgrace.
They gossiped her off-key chirps in titmousery had no place!

Singing lessons seemed required, a wren to teach her song.
But all she could afford was a crow, and that seemed wrong.
So she hired out as a nest-keeper, to earn some extra seed.
Help robins to spruce up their spruce, or whatever was in need.

The birds had their own system, they called "The Internest"
That kept her supplied with jobs, till she could hardly rest!
But the Internest could be misused, and that brought disaster
When an ostrich had her egg sit, even tho the egg was vaster!

The hatchling broke its egg while unwary Thelma sat atop
Fixed on the tit as mama, so Thelma ne'er rejoined her flock.

Terrific second poem with Jumble clues, Owen. I could never have solved this sixteen word answer without your hints here and there, and then I got it! Yay! I'll say more after others check in, but don't want to give anything away. Liked your first poem too.

I hope I don't give anything away .

I tried to post earlier. Infamous profile button got me again.

I had no clue at 11 o clock so I can went and solved the xword. Finally I took another look and all six unscambled. But...
I had a mound of vowels and a cloud of consonants. Then I spotted the 10 letter word but the leftovers didn't work.

I just this second grabbed my newspaper and I see that for #1, I gather HEARTH is indeed wrong. I needed another G and another T for those last two words.

I need a more systematic approach to the J. The skinny is I need to be more neat, I can't spend time I don't have* .

Owen liked INTER-NEST so much he used it on both sites. Complete with tweets.

* Haha. We all seem to have a lot of it.

And since Lewis Carroll is featured here's some Wilbur doggerel. Note, I too make liberal use of Mr Lambkin's xword.

The time has come old boo boo said
to talk of many things
of poison apps and rattle traps
and whether a sty has swings
And why the French are Sensual
And what makes good wasps sting

If it's any help, I'll share my system for solving. I mentally move the letters much as I would on a Scrabble tray and keep realigning them until I hit upon the correct word. As for the final solve, I check the number of vowels and see which might be combined, in today's, the "ou" and just try to match the word with the picture. I enjoyed today's pun and of course, your brilliant poem, Owen. I haven't done the short J and likely won't finish before starting dinner. I'm expecting my fam any minute.

Got the daily 4 and solution without too much trouble - timer says 2:13, but it must have paused because I'm sure it took longer than that. The Sunday 6 wasn't up last night, so I just did it. The 6 words came fairly easily, but couldn't get a clue about the solution. Finally got the clue from your swell poem, Owen. Thanks.

PS - it's actually only 4pm here.

Thank you Misty . I knew you would catch on to the original "Cabbages and Kings/ Pigs have wings" .

Believe it or not my nickname for Betsy was "BooBoo" as in Yogi's buddy.

I'm sure you had one for Rowland

And.. I just re-read Owen's ditty about the titty . It really was a great tale of a wren wronged.

Seriously, too bad more folks can't access his work .
