"Tough Project"

Helen wiped her face with a hanky,
she was upset and cranky.
They had told her to beware
causing her project to impair
by making her weaving uneven.
Unless the fabric she'd restitch
she wouldn't repair the glitch.

A deep breath she now did inhale--
no, she didn't want to fail.
Her new blanket would not be a mess
and could even be a success.
This moment of humility
took her out of her tunnel's vicinity.
Her decision turned out to be wise
and in the end she won the prize.

My goodness, Ol' Man Keith, a morning is just not the same without your greeting and your verse! I felt awkward and uncomfortable starting the blog without you or Owen or Wilbur. I hope everything is okay and that we'll hear from you soon.

Have a good Sunday, everybody.

Sorry, Misty.
It is my day off. I didn't think I needed to post a reminder.
You deserve a break too. Why not join me? Either on Sundays like me--or another day you might pick for yourself.

I saw your poem earlier, but thought I'd wait to see if anyone else would post before commenting.

Misty's poem has all the rhyme
needed to chime
with the clue words, one at a time.
She sparks
with full marks!

I'm only left in a bit of a "funnel"*
as to her meaning of "tunnel."
the thing Helen's no longer in the middle of,
and of which I am in a muddle of**.

____________
*
meaning "fluffle" or "fluster."
** Is it some kind of sewing stitch,
ignorant of I am which?

Sorry to have bothered you about joining in on your day off, OMK, but it would have been depressing to have been the only voice on Jumble this morning.

I know it was a bit of work, but your response verse is an utter delight and a pleasure and I truly mean it when I say you've made my day! And, of course, you're completely right to be muddled and in a funnel about my tunnel. Funnel was the only word that rhymed with tunnel and they just didn't fit into a poem about weaving. So making a senseless and stupid tunnel comment was the best I could do. I think it's totally silly and should have earned me a C- for my poem--saved only by the fact that that I bothered to post it at all.

So,
My tunnel verse deserved a zero,
but your kind poetic response makes you a hero!

LOL ~ I Googled it after writing my response.
Turns out, yes! There is a "tunnel stitch"!
So it might have meant poor Helen had been so unnerved by her unevenness that she quit her current stitching and started all over.

You could have stayed mum, and I would have assumed you knew this all along!
See?
WooHoo! You get an "A+" for honesty!

Thank you, dear Ol' Man Keith, for your kind and helpful and supportive response to my various worries. Thanks for finding that Helen might have been entitled to a tunnel stitch, and thereby getting me off the hook. I didn't stay mum because I wasn't smart enough to discover the clever solution. That's why we need you as our Senior member of our blog. Thank you!

"Mr President, I beg your pardon but our traffic in Boston is impaired
We need another tunnel ". Said Ronald, "Your asking for money, that's just what I feared"
Tip inhaled and let out a sigh. The Prez seemed cranky today. "TIP M'Boy here's the glitch.
I want missiles and bombs and you Dems have been sons of bitch
You want dough, tell me why

"Mr President, said the honorable O'Neill, perhaps this swap is uneven
But I'll give you guns if you give me butter and no one will be griev'n."
"Two billion should do for starters, that should fix the City"
"No way" said Tip, "That's not even in the general vicinity

Your ABM boondoggle is gonna cost us plenty
How about upping the ante and make it twenty.

Wilbur, interesting and clever, but pretty old. Trying to fit in all the jumble words does constrain topics, I guess!

Misty, re. "Mills" Check out these lines from Shelley (FLN)

"Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read"
