Todayโ€™s Jumble haiku:
(The zooโ€™s bush baby primates decided to follow the writers & actors. They went on strike for a wage increase.
When things went their way, they rued the outcome โ€ฆ)

โ€Starving Tollโ€

The lemurs formed a
unionโ€”for salaryโ€”โ€œbut
not sap,โ€ they regret.

Beat the drum, beat the drum!
I know a rabbit whose time has come!
I'll spring a trap
To shut his yap,
And catch him quicker than he can call his Mum!

With my apologies to PETA
Roaring Stole

The lemur was full of regret,
He decided to grin and bear it.
Like a lion he cried out, and yet
He was truly trapped and ensnared,
A reunion with his mate he despaired.
Destined to pay the hunterโ€™s salary,
His fur would be a vintage Hollywood Regency.

Misty should get the W today, with all our rhyming hints.

OMK- Brilliant and topical backstory to your lemursโ€™ strike. And a caution against always getting what you ask for and then ruing the collateral damage.
We went in slightly different directions with our titles. My topic was slightly macabre. I remember my mother having one if those fur scarfs with the entire animal, head and tail included, plus little beady button eyes. I canโ€™t imagine wearing one - shudder!

Orijinz:
Br'er Bear had a grin from ear to ear. Br'er Rabbit would learn today who to fear!
The Tar Baby sat,
Awaiting to trap
Whoever was first to come near!

Sorry the Orijinz is so late this morning. Neither my phone nor i were feeling well last night. I managed the W, but the O just wouldn't load. And i haven't written the J nor CC poems yet.

A bit of coincidence -- i did the W first, thinking of Buggs Bunny, but then along came the O and continued the same story, but with a new starring role.

"Lemur Stir"

The lemur was gentle and very kind
and the zoo hoped a partner
for him they would find.
But such a union might get them in debt,
so they stopped their search
with much regret.

Instead they figured out that the gallery
might have another way to make a salary.
They gave the lemur a starring role
in an animal show that became their goal.
The audience loved it and it was a hit
and the lemur into the zoo did now happily fit.

CanadianEh! ~ A splendid Spoonerish title! I love how it led to your sorry recollection. My mom had the same foxy critter around her neck. (But I canโ€™t imagine one made from an actual lemur, with a striped tail!โ€”except as a costume designerโ€™s gag.)
Still, I like how you captured your lemurโ€™s last desperate momentsโ€ฆ

Misty ~ Your lemurโ€™s attentions seem to have been bought off. Instead of providing him with a lifeโ€™s mate, they enticed him into becoming a matinee idol.
Hollywood strikes again!

I figured it would be too tough for me to get the Wordle today, but, Woohoo!, it worked out, thanks to your helpful hints, Ol' Man Keith and CanadianEh!! Here it is:

I'm glad I dared to try it with your clues--I fared well in the end.

Ol' Man Keith, I hope those baby lemurs get the sap they need before it's too late. But I still always enjoy your haiku and verse.
And I have been thinking of Janice and hoping she's feeling better.

Owen, I sure hope you set that poor bunny free from his trap.

CanadianEh!, I'm afraid your verse made me sad. But your comment about your mother's fur scarf showed your good heart.

I miss Wilbur on days like this. But am so glad to still visit you all on the blog every day.

Ol' Man Keith said...

Donโ€™t worry about the โ€œbabyโ€ lemurs, Misty!
Only the adults can join a union. My reference to โ€œbush baby primatesโ€ identifies the family to which they belong.
A bush baby is a kind of ape, regardless of its age.

Ach! I had a busy day doing my fall cleaning, and didnโ€™t get back here.
Misty- your lemur was lucky to be in a zoo where he would not suffer the horrible fate of my lemur. Yes, my verse was sad.
But OMK will attest that it was my Spooner title that led my thoughts to that Stole.

Hope you are feeling better Owen.

I am out of town tomorrow and doubt I will make it here.
