Chauncey did not like school!
He did not like the dress code rule!
He liked his get-up to be unique,
And that his name didn't sound like a freak!

He wanted to be called the much cooler "Sy,"
He flinched when his dorky name went by.
The last straw came when they added badges,
Inked with their name, worn to all classes!

His interest in school became only in cutting.
It was filled with taunters, some even cunning.
Playing hooky is considered juvenile delinquency
Worst of all, truant officers called him Mr.Chauncey!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Owen. I had trouble with #1 and #3 so came to your poem for help. What a sad little story! I got so distracted by poor Sy's problems that I had to read the poem a second time to find my missing words. But then I got them and that helped me with the solution to the poor lawn mower's problem.

I always marvel, Owen, that you come up with a theme and a story that allow you to work all the Jumble words into a coherent narrative. My brain just doesn't work that creatively.

The jumble clues were not all as obvious as they sometimes are, but they came after a little thought. And the solution was almost too obvious, except that jumble solutions can never be too obvious for me!

Aagh. I just noticed that in revising this (one of my very lesser poems) I made the last line first verse read the opposite of what it should! (The third line had originally been what he DIDN'T like.)

Wished his name didn't sound like a freak!

As for the fellow in the cartoon, all I can say is, mower power to him.

Horsepower or flower power?

As soon as I read the cartoon quips I instantly knew the solve but had trouble descrambling the words! Weird! It took a while but I got them all though I doubted #2 as a real word so thank you, Owen, for affirming it. I second Sandyanon's comments. You are so creative in conjuring a poem with all those words! Every day! It's brilliant!
