”Understanding Cucurbitae”

Planted in radial lines,
our gourds ripened in the sunny fall.
The cucumber salads called for dry wines.
Our squash and melons were sweetest of all.
The pumpkins enticed us to bake lots of pies,
with a gingersnap crust among the “highs,”
& the Missus took a prize (county fair-wise)!

"Outdoors"

Sally was standing under
the tree when she heard the thunder.
She had been enticed and lured
to the field to find a gourd
whose radial spice
would be pleasant and nice.
The thunder stopped, and she saw a bunny,
and now her spirits were cheerful and sunny.

No way I could compete with your lovely poem, Ol' Man Keith--a total delight.

Thanks, Misty ~ You make a dramatic transition, from the threat of thunder to an innocent bunny.
May our days both veer in the same direction.

(This one's for Sandy.)
And what happens even to the understanding subway passengers when their lines transition to the outer boroughs on elevated tracks?
Can their remarks ever be overstated?

My goodness, quiet day on Jumble today. I hope Owen and Wilbur will check in with us tomorrow. I think they were both on Facebook today, so we at least know they're okay.
