The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Electing to Think Things Over…

Whether he drops his suit, or
abandons his fiancΓ©e, he will owe
“2 cents” with a smile—to pay her, to suit her
complaints of an ill chill, ‘though
he might miss the thrill-show
(that comes from the kill-glow
of a court trial.)

Sending my very best wishes to Owen.
No word from him yet this morning. I managed to change the date for a new page, but that is all I could do without taking more time to recover his instructions for operating the site.
May he be well!

"Courtship"

Tom was an experienced tutor
who thought he's be a suitable suitor
on some website on his computer.

He wanted to connect
with a candidate he could respect
and as a partner elect.

The young woman he found was named "Willow"
and she gave his life a new glow
with many loving comments
and a sweet gift that cost a few cents.

She brought into his life much mirth
and convinced him he was worth
thinking of a possible marriage
in the park, with a horse and carriage.

A year later they were wed,
and shared glasses of champagne in bed.

I see Willow’s investment of a few cents (more’n two, I imagine) paid off for her in champagne!
Misty, your verse reminds us that to be tech-savvy, like Tom, can lead to happiness these days
—and to happy places such as beds with lovely companionship!

I wish I were proficient enough with tech challenges to flip this page with ease. Owen has been trying to set it up so that it takes minimal time & effort, but it is still more than I have grasped.

Woohoo! Got Wordle on my third try--not as good as you, OMK, but still better than usual.

Sound like your couple is having a much tougher time than mine, but still left you with very clever rhymes like chill, thrill, kill. Enjoyed it very much, OMK.

Thank you for still working with Owen to learn how to set up the blog in the mornings. It would be really sad not to have it any more. Any chance C.C. would let us post verses on the bigger blog, like Owen does? But then what about the Worldes? I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed that it all works out.

Only the very elect of serious men
Are allowed to think, lest the world end.
Else, like the willow, whipped by the storm,
It doesn't break, yet looks forlorn.

Frivolous men take all in stride.
Think life is eternal, nothing has died.
Death is transition, and nothing more.
We'll me again on some Heavenly shore.

Mother and father, maiden and suitor,
Children and pets, thus all creeds tutor.
But the skeptic who so oft thinks the worst
Says it's wishful hoping, his two cents' worth!

Sorry, Misty, I am not volunteering to be "still working" to keep things going--at least not beyond occasional future days when I may find extra time.
I realized even as I was updating this page today that my memory of the right buttons to push is shot. Nearly kaput.
I spent more time than you may imagine, trying to recall what was in fact a very simple operation.
Even so, I was not able to connect this page to the Chicago Tribune.

I had been pleading with Owen to write out the instructions, and when he finally did (!!), I neglected to note the date on which he posted them.
He tells me that he doesn't really do email, so that doesn't seem to be an option.
I apologize again. It is sadly true, I find, that what might have been a simple operation for me even ten years ago, is so terribly elusive to me in my too often befuddled 80s.

Well, welcome, Owen!
As you can see, we missed you this morning. I wasn't of much assistance, as anyone can see.
I want to help, but there is a big gap between aspiration and ability.
Knowing my inclination to futz around with things that play into my procrastination disease, I may try to push buttons again, but allow me to apologize & politely restate that there is NO COMMITMENT on my end.

Glad you are well!

Owen, your poem is simply remarkable this morning.

I am beginning to wonder if you have any thoughts about collecting your verses and maybe making
a small volume out of them, to make sure your family has access to them. I would think they are worth saving and cherishing.

Great that we scored the same on Wordle today, CanadianEh!.
And I love your haiku (is that what it is? Here I am a literary scholar, and I still don't know my poetry after all this time).

OMK, I have Owen's instructions

"Keith or whoever (CEh!? Some lurker?), first step is to get the new day's Jumble. I get it from the Chicago Trib, where it comes at 6pm (Mountain time; your time will be an hour off), but I chop that up to get the blog page. To save you that effort, at or after 11pm go to https://www.arkansasonline.com/puzzles/jumblenh/ . Copy the Jumble image from there. Just the Jumble image, not the whole page.

"I assume you've found the dashboard, and the page that lists all posts. The bottom-right corner will have a large orange disk with a + sign in the middle. That's what you need to start a new day. Press that and the edit page will come up. you can leave the title blank. In the edit section will be the welcome message that I wrote. At the start of that message is || . Put your cursor between those lines, and press [ctrl] [H]. Press the save icon at the top-right, and you're done!

"Once you get that down, two additional steps are to adjust the size of the image to a width of 616-620 pixels. The column is 620 pixels wide but I like to give it some extra slack.

"The other thing is to set the publishing time (assuming you're posting before midnight, otherwise just leave it alone). Before you save, press the cog-wheel icon on the right edge. That will drop down a menu covering the right side of the page. About a page down on that menu will be the publishing time. Click that and change the time to 12 am, and for the puzzle's date."

Archie found said orange disk but dashboard etc I don't get. I'll check with Archie tomorrow

Thanks, Wilbur. I found the notes, and I sent a copy by email to Misty to be sure they don’t get lost.

If Owen doesn’t change the date tonight, I may try again to do it.
I won’t even attempt the full Jumble capture, but may try a link to the Trib.
If I can make that work, that may be all I’ll ever need to do: just push a button to change over.
