We had a loud commotion at a tire store this week,
Neighbors heard it happen up and down the street!
This store is ultra quiet, all that rubber dims the sound.
There are pallets piled with tires, and stacks upon the ground.

They deal in several brands, Goodyear, Husky, and Goodrich,
That boast of clinging to the the road, not slipping in a ditch!
Some people buy for stopping power, some, how fast they go.
Each brand has their specialty, for drivers fast or slow.

A new installer, who disdained comments from those older,
Connected an air pressure hose to a valve stem holder.
Clamped the hose to open, then turned to fetch a hubcap.
The explosion threw him twenty feet, loud as a thunderclap!

No injuries resulted, except a very bruised and humbled ego!
But now that youngster listens more to those who really know!

Owen, I usually read your poems for enjoyment rather than help, although today I did look for a hint to word 3. Thanks. But also today I learned something new. I didn't know Husky was a tire brand, just Goodyear and Goodrich. So now I can be a better informed buyer.

I too had trouble with #3 and came to your poem for help, Owen. It worked, many thanks! Since I don't know much about automobiles, would not have gotten this without you. Then I re-read your poem without worrying about answers, and found it a delight! Many thanks! Makes me so happy to come by this site every day.

I'm here, but just briefly. Enjoyed Owen's poem, esp. the first 2 stanzas!

I just finished . I'm too stubborn too come until I solve . Plus, I was working on yesterday's but despite having all the letters and handed the First word by Misty and Keith I couldn't get TABLES .

I was late getting to J because XW is a typical Saturday. I did FIR,but...
I had trouble with #3 and #4. But I had the riddle but wasn't sure if #2 was spelled with an E or U .

I finally got #4 which left me with the two letters needed on #3. I needed pen and paper to work the combinations . Of course, Owen's excellent poem showcased that word . Also, for awhile, I thought#4 was Palate .

Finally, re. Politics.. Some people make highly political comments but don't think they are . Sandy I think we'll call you SanityAnon .

You might notice I re-wrote the blurb (and split in two pieces, one atop comments, one below) and truncated the tolerances. I'll still step in if things get out of hand on those topics, tho.
