When things go wrong, there's two things you can do.
You can gripe and complain, or find the lesson for you.
Once you've ridden it out, you can get right on it,
Turn it to good, for a new feather in your bonnet!

If you're a pessimist, who views all life as a trudge,
You might blame fate or God, and nourish a grudge.
But the successful will see shining linings of silver,
Use the past as bricks and stones for building the future!

Some write books, some follow the lecture circuit,
Taking the podium to talk, pontificate, and work it!
Or bless your stars if your travail wasn't that bad.
You can follow a trend, and be as wise as your Dad!

FLN: Owen, I did check the link from the first line of your poem. I read the article by Howard Baskin and it was eye-opening. Thanks.

Well, I got this morning's Jumble without any problems at all. Took a minute to get the fourth item, but the reveal just popped right up--making this a delightful Jumble experience. Since I had all the answers, I got to enjoy your poem, which is so sweetly encouraging, for its own sake. Many thanks for that, Owen. A good Jumble sure makes for the start of a good day.

The jumble solution came easily, even without clue 3, which didn't. I went to the poem for that early on; not feeling persistent today.

Hey, Sandyanon, we all have fast days and slow days, and yours are always pretty sparkly and quick, in my estimation.

Aww...thx.

I was pretty quick today too but I left the riddle to go do the xword . Then I got on top of it

Not easy for me today. Got the 1st 3 pretty quickly, but couldn't see #4. Wrote it out in alphabetical order, DIMOPU, then tried possible combinations of letters going left to right: DIOPUM, DOMIUP, etc. Got through O and gave up and took a hint for the 1st letter, then it was only a mtter of a few more tries to figure it out. You'd think it would have come easier to a musician. For the solution, I put the letters in alphabetical order then copied that line, then as I tried diggerent 3 & 2-letter words, subtracted letters from the 2nd copy so I could see where to put them back when they didn't work. Finally had 4 letters remaining that worked with the sentence in the clue, the phrase and the quotes. Whew!

WC, check yesterday's poem for the link.

Thank goodness you got it, after all that hard work, Mike.

Yes, thank goodness!

Better late than never though it hardly seems worth it to post at this late date when the next day's J is already posted. Like the rest of you, the first three words were no trudge (unfamiliar word) but the last one took some work. In fact, I solved the riddle first and saw which letters I was missing.
