The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

When it comes to eating healthy, there are different schools.
Some who say the outcome is determined from your stools!
We'll avoid those 'hind' bound folk, look at another camp,
Those who say anything's okay if it doesn't give a cramp.
Some prefer prunes and plums, purple kinds of fruits,
While admitting those and legumes produce music toots.
The Aztec corn goddess felt that insulting to her 'ears',
Preferred that her grain produce succotash and beers!
Apricots and apples can make vinegar and hard ciders,
Strawberries make jam, sticky as the webs of spiders!
All vegetables and fruits, whichever ones you choose,
Will help to keep you healthy, there's no way to lose!
This jumble was amazingly easy for me. Shocked me when the solution just popped out with no effort. Cute pun.
I do like the poem, especially the last verse. Though I'm not sure corn is really that healthy as a vegetable, more of a starch, yes?
Delightful poem, Owen--this will be one of my favorites. I have a doctor's appointment this morning, so had no time to comment on the puzzle. But I loved this morning's Jumble and so just had to come here to say so, and say hello. Breezed through all four Jumble items and got the answer instantly. Great fun. Only I wish I could figure out what those things are in the case in front. Anyway, have a great day, everybody.
I believe those are album covers, Misty, but I don't recognize the particular records. I like the scored dollar signs in Owen's picture, suggesting the headphones are free!
The poem is pretty comprehensive; all that's missing is a big food group chart...

The four J's went fast, indeed. I jotted all the letters down and pulled out T H E. Finally I had to study the illustration and bingo.
In keeping with the CC "kerfluffle" "The only thing missing" is OREOS.
Any food that's alive, like peaches off the tree and corn off the cob is good. The canned stuff, not so good.

Btw, I can was anxious to see how Owen would use P---& C---- in the poem.

Of course, album covers, Ol'Man Keith--makes perfect sense. Thanks!
