The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

LOL.
It was the "Call (on [the double]) me!" that cinched it for me.

Afraid I'm stooping to plagiarism today.

Jumble Desiderata

GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all koalas.

Cast your spell quietly and clearly; and listen to others, pivot to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid access to loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.

It is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Not a lot of inspiration today. But I'm pleased to recommend the following:

"Steve Irwin's Legacy
Casts a Bright Shadow"

The Irwins of Australia run a fine facility
dedicated to wildlife preservation.
Whether koala, croc, or wallaby,
they grant access without hesitation.

It's a large place, peaceful & placid,
with medical care on the scene.
All critters are welcome (well, not Jurassic,
they're neither nutty nor all THAT keen!)

If you're traveling anywhere in Queensland,
be sure to pivot to the park, near Brisbane.

"Dolly's Koala"

Dolly spent many a dollar
to purchase a cute koala.
The pet her friends did rivet
when he would jump and pivot.
He was lively with many a facet,
but could also be quite placid.
His antics delighted so well
that he managed to cast quite a spell.
And so Dolly gave her friends access
to that pet that was such a success.

Misty ~ Your Dolly reminds me how dear Koalas appear to be, and how I'd love to pet one & become friends!
Yet reality tells us the experience may be quite different from the poetic fiction. Australian law prohibits private ownership of these cuddly critters and, even if Dolly managed to find one smuggled into the U.S., many states have outlawed their sale and purchase.

BUT--and here's the way it could work--if Dolly is really a good person, she could go through advanced training in animal husbandry, qualify as a legit keeper, and be hired by a zoo. In that way she could take care of koalas and hold her favorites every day.
She could even introduce her friends to them--though probably not to hug one close. The males have a particularly stinky gland in their chests for marking territory.
So here's to Dolly! I'm sure her desire to love & protect a koala can overcome any short-term revulsion at their awful odor. Her love for them (and a shower) can lead to gainful employment* and help to ensure their survival. Brava!

And it can save her pocketbook too, as Google reports their black market purchase price to be many thousands of dollars.

OMK, I ALMOST went to the Australia Zoo about twelve years ago, but opted out. Was on a trip with a teenage grandson, a trip mostly designed around his interests, climaxing with a stay in Beerwah so he could visit to the zoo. I spent the day relaxing on my own.

I did see Uluru, though, among other things. And ride on a camel, which he loved and I barely survived, lol!

Well, Ol' Man Keith, I just wish Dolly could have read your poem before she spent money buying a koala. She could have spent the money to visit the wildlife preservation facility of the Irwins in Australia, and played not only with koalas but lots of other wonderful animals. Maybe we should consult before we publish our poems so that we can bring our characters together? No, no, yours sometimes have tragic endings and mine never do--no, that wouldn't work, would it? But I loved your Australia poem today!

Actually, Owen's thoughts today fit perfectly with my poetic temperament! Thank you for that gift too!

Just got home from my second vaccination. I'm glad I could do this within walking distance, but really hate the mass of people all being collected in one (large) room.
I wore two masks, but saw no one else doing that. Anyway, it's done, hurrah!!

Congrats on your 2nd shot, Sandy!
I was starting to worry that I hadn't heard from anyone about my 2nd. Turns out I miscalculated. I thought I would be due the end of this week, but that would only be 3 weeks.
My Moderna vaccine requires a 4 week interval. I think Pfizer is just 3 weeks.

And how great that you were at the Australia Zoo! I've never been. (Never been south of Peru.)

Misty ~ All I know about the Irwins is via my wife. She steered me toward their video docs.
She was a real fan of Steve Irwin & greatly saddened when he was killed. His widow and kids are doing a great job keeping the good work going. It is said they have rescued/saved over 90,000 animals in the wake of those enormous fires.
They heal and release all that are able to manage on their own. Those that become dependent on human intervention, they either maintain or place with zoos around the planet.

I wrote a poem and posted it only to realize that it was Wednesday's jumble. I'll post it tomorrow
