The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

My mother always told me, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.". So I shall be quiet now.

The t-shirt on the right was easy to find - a famous night-club in New York.
The one on the left I never found, but I'm sure reads THE TWEEDY SHOW something something. The artwork on their website is by Jeff Knurek, and the band had featured in a couple past Jumble cartoons, tho I didn't realize the name of the group before.

My Uncle Ned was a real nutty crank,
Abhorred the very idea of a fish tank!
Said the military was getting out of line
With armored vehicles for fish-kind!

He was mostly self-taught. Said he'd rather
Forgo all the formal text-book chatter.
He could tease any information he'd need
From the comic books and manga he'd read!

Argued gravity should do all our work
Once we'd figured out its quarks and quirks.
If we could make gravity pull towards space,
Everything would be downhill, a la a go-kart race!

You mother was a wise woman, Sandy.
And I like this for its pithiness & metric purity:
"Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say."

Today's Jumble response ~

"A Raw Heart"
Never tease a crank.
They're formal--and rather apt
To over-react.

Wow! How does one follow two brilliant early morning verses like these? Wow!
You both worked in all of the Jumble words and solution so utterly cleverly.
Cranky Uncle Ned was once again a delight, Owen.
And, Ol' Man Keith, I can't believe you worked Jumble words and solution into a three line production.

"Conflicted Mart"

Frank was not very formal--
he liked to keep everything normal.
So when his new business did start
he opened an outdoor mart
that served all its food a la carte.
Unfortunately, a guy at his bank
turned out to be a real crank.
He criticized the mart's cheese
and its other product he'd tease.
This made Frank rather sadder
and so to counter this blather
he asked his friends to gather.
He offered them bottles of beer
and they happily his mart did cheer.

Nothing "nutty" about Ned, Owen.
He's a guy for simple solutions. I'll bet that early silent animation of a trip to the moon was a pure documentary of his way of thinking.
His launching method would be even simpler.
Just wait till the moon sinks below the horizon, then let the ship slide....

Ah, yes, Misty ~ Hootch once again to the rescue!
Frank appreciates the lubricating efficacy of beer and, probably, the harder stuff when necessary, in order to assure the popularity of his mart.
I'm not sure of the legality of his method--but who am I, a cop?!
"Sadder/blather/gather" is good; that's good! Thank you!

And thanks for appreciating my Haiku.

When the words are there,
they line up and write themselves.
Simple. Dontcha see?
