The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

And a flock of new blocks.

When dying her hair,
she sought no clots,

Nor Blind Spots

After a bottle
of color, well applied, she’s
known as “Sleepy Red.”

FLN, I enjoyed the story of Roland Hazard. Thanks for that.
And thanks, W.C., for your response to my response!
I wrote that I understand God as a Metaphor, but when you come right down to it, that particular metaphor can point to God him(it)self--literally.
Why not?*
In locating it in "the most disciplined part of our higher natures," I think I'm going along with both theology and psychology. And with AA. (I'm only challenging those who make God out to be some big bearded supernatural guy-in-the-sky. Those beautiful paintings & sculptures are actually the metaphors.)

Jung and Freud did not agree on most things, but they both understood the multiple natures inside of us. They gave them different names, from Animus to Ego and Id, and they knew they exist in a hierarchy & are often in conflict.

We know they function both consciously and unconsciously & can also be addressed by our troubled self,
whether we call it self-critique--or prayer.

I started to type "Why the hell not?" but figured the gag was a bit jejune.

OMK, there was an other link: Hazard had met Ebby who "found God ". Ebby was an old friend of Bill W and planted the seed. Bill's eureka moment came during a hospital detox

Also, equally important were the traditions and the concept of Higher Power. AA vowed to have no property nor doctrine and accept anyone who wants to get sober

"Baby-sitting"

The baby was often weepy
just before he got sleepy.
His mom did her best to coddle
by feeding him a second bottle.
His cheeks would take on some color
and he would no longer holler.
After lots of time with her little chap
his mother needed a nap.

Your amusing poem, Misty, made me smile.
If baby starts by being weepy & ends with a nap,
where does that leave mommy?
I’ll bet there are often times, after so much effort with the coddle & prepping the bottle (and checking his nappy before his “nappy”), when she must feel weepy too before she gets sleepy.
I see the entire project as one more instance of the transference of mood & manifestation, from child to mother.
Part of the eternal bond.

Thank you for the kind words, Ol' Man Keith. And your verse did it once again--worked all four Jumble words and solution into a brief, cool haiku. At first I couldn't find the LOTs--but then I looked again and saw it/them buried in the cLOTSs.
