I looked up "Hard" mode. I see no point in it- an unnecessary restriction. Nothing like red letters at all.
Using up unused letters is part of the skill needed.
A good example was when a friend had 4 of 5 letters after three. But for the remaining letter there were 5 possibilities.
Coming up with a word that employs 3 of the missing letters is a skill not a cheat.

This let her move onward
using a stylus to draw a card
for a sick friend, whose life was hard
and for whom she was praying,
it goes without saying.
The card did her sick friend's anguish quell,
and now both women are doing well.

As always, I started with a word from the LAT crossword puzzle. Not adieu.
Wilbur, I agree. If you are playing in Easy Mode, one tactic might be to "use up" as many letters as possible. So conceptually, in Easy Mode, you could have a list of 5 different five letter words that "use up" 25 of the 26 letters of the alphabet.
You would then have one remaining chance to assemble the correct answer from the letters that show up as "Present" or "Correct", and from the one letter not contained in those five words, if needed. So it makes the game too easy, IMO.
But in Hard Mode, the game is a little bit tougher, and a bit more of a challenge. You must use all Correct letters in their correct position, AND, you must use all Present letters in each successive attempt. In hard mode, you can't simply enter a five letter word to arbitrarily eliminate letters.
To each their own.

You remind me that there is more to iodine than spreading on the skin to prevent infection. Iris is lucky to have you as her chronicler.

But what is really magical in your verse today is that "card" Iris sent her pal. I know women put more faith in getting cards than do men, but this card goes the extra mile for a smile.

I see the new fascination with Worldle on our page. I guess there is no other site for its fans.
Just an alert for anyone who cares: I am not likely to get involved with yet another game. This one doesn't seem related to Jumble. (Or is it?)
I know Sandy has expressed her lack of love for the poems, and yes, they may scare off some other viewers--while Wordle might draw more customers here. But in the meantime, please count me out.
Please understand. It is not because I resent anyone's pleasures, but despite my skipping today's holiday, I don't really have enough time as it is.

Actuall, OMK, Worldle and Wordle are two different games. Worldle is a geography game on kind of the same model as Wordle, but you do get hints, as well as a silhouette of the coubtry you're trying to guess in six tries. I think it was ATL Granny who mentioned it on the Corner. I tried it and found it to be fun -- and educational.

Ol' Man Keith, it makes me so happy that you are not taking Sundays off and are still giving some of your most delightful verses on those days. I often don't quite get theme (including the one today--is it about 'Batman'?) but it doesn't matter because I love the way you tie the Jumble words so closely together in such a poetic way. Keep it up--it's one of my Sunday pleasures.

And yes, Misty, to answer your question: I was watching The Batman, as I mention in my title.
It inspired my little verse. In the film, Bruce Wayne doesn't need iodine for open wounds, but actor Robert Pattinson gets beat up constantly and looks like a trashed zombie much of the time.
The movie is a visual treat--IF you can see it in all the darkness. It seems rainy and dark and foggy all through Gotham.
It is a formulaic film, predictable scene by scene--slowly paced, taking itself much too seriously. Best acting is by Andy Serkis, walking in Gielgud's footsteps as Alfred.
I was only surprised by how much walking Batman does. I am used to seeing him swinging between buildings. He does a little "flying" in this one, but he mainly plods along, from one crime to the next.
