FLN, Misty ~ You have given me credit for Owen’s haiku, an error that wouldn’t normally be considered a major mistake, but under the circumstances must surely count as supreme irony—no?
But I thank you for believing me capable of so complex a structure!

Today’s Jumble haiku:
(One way to “load” dice is to glue a heavy side opposite the side to face up.
Weight yours properly, call your point, and they’ll always…)

Come on Yours

He rolled the cubics
and admired his imposed pips.
That epoxy’d worked!

Jack the Ripper they say is dead
Ripped corn husks out in his shed.
Weather got hot,
The corn all popped,
(Jack might have survived,
But melted butter arrived.)
Rest In Peace, Eternal Rest,
His corny epitaph says it best.

The alphabet blocks were having a party.
The "R" block had been repaired with epoxy!
Everyone was coming to admire the mend
And hoped that injury never happened again!

His cubic shape was as good as new.
He'd fared much better than poor "U".
But he didn't want to impose on the rest,
So something for U was what he'd suggest.

The other blocks thought that a capital idea,
A font of possibilities came like logorrhea.
A costume party finally came thru.
For a theme, everyone should come as "U"!

Happy Washington’s Birthday, everyone!
My grandfather, Henry Clay Fowler, was born on this day. He was a twin. His brother, older by minutes, got the name George Washington Fowler.
I never knew George; sadly, he was struck & killed by lightning at age 11.

If you are in Dubai, use RUM Car Rental (but be aware that your employer may only pay for the cheapest model).

RUM as your Car

It would be epoch
To choose a cube car,
A fad mired in a designer’s dream
That had him pose as a star.
But reality deems,
“He who pays the piper
Calls the tune.”

Wordle post had to be split again today.
Not enough guesses available today to get that first letter. Of course I doubled up on the wrong letter in guess six.
I see that WC had problems with the 3rd letter.

In the original spirit of this blog, I worked hard to embed the J words today (plus the W-actually I used my wrong 6th guess!).
And I managed a Spooner title (sort of!). Yes, I Googled for that Dubai business and they appear on Facebook!

Owen- thanks for the smile re Jack’s ignominious demise. Yes that was the letter that I doubled at the beginning of my 6th guess. You doubled it in the middle!
And what a splendid poem using the J words. The block theme and Come as U were brilliant. I LOLed at logorrhea (my Canadian/British spellcheck wants logorrhoea).

And then we have OMK loading the dice. Those imposed pips can win the game every time.

Didn’t you Americans just have Presidents Day? I presume Washington’s birthday is not an official holiday.
OMK- interesting re your grandparent and his twin (sad story re lightening). Sounds like those great-grandparents liked historical names. My dad was a twin.

OwenKL said...

CEh!, "Doubled it in the middle?" I think I may have caught you in one of my red herrings๐Ÿ˜. The correct solution had exactly 5 letters in correct order.

Yuppers, CEh! ~ GW’s b’day is actual, but no longer real. Not a real holiday, that is.
It was around the time we decided to celebrate MLKjr Day, if I recall correctly, that we chose to combine Washington’s & Lincoln’s Days into one catchall Presidents Day.
Too bad, I thought, because my own actual day is tomorrow, the 23rd, and when I was a wee lad, a schoolboy, I used to privately pretend that when we had the 22nd off from school it was because we were celebrating my own b’day!
It was certainly easy to think of it as a combined Grandpa & grandson Fowler Family Day….

Owen- you got me! I see the acrostic now. Nice work.

OMK- thanks for explaining your American holidays to this Canadian. Wonderful childhood memory of your own birthday celebrations. You were almost born on your grandfather’s birthday. Happy Birthday Eve!

Misty- Jim is quite a success story - and foxy too! And yes, even those corner offices can be cubic. Let’s hope he got a window now that he is a company star.

Well hinted, Owen’s Jack (esp. the penultimate cap line)
& CEh’s performing bagger (he rhymes!)!
Looks like my offending yester-verse inspired fresh attempts to encode today’s answers.
Brilliance abounds!

Misty’s foxy Jim seems destined for greatness; at least in the corporate world.
He no longer need abide by the “rules,” that’s how impressive his rise has been.
His boss seems to have thrown ethics to the winds. WooHoo!
I’m guessing Jim works in Big Pharma, where we are told such freedom rings!

Good job, Misty, keeping track of Jim’s progress. The poetic structure is clear & solid!
And if Jim should stumble along the way, you’re sure to catch him in the moment.

Another poem written by ChatGPT. This is NOT by me.

Poem of up to 14 lines using the words cubic, epoxy, admire, impose, come as you "r".

Come as you "r", with head held high,
Your cubic heart a work of art,
Imbued with strength that won't comply,
With those who'd seek to tear apart.

Admire the beauty you possess,
The strength within that fuels your drive,
And don't let those who seek to impress,
Impose their will to make you thrive.

For you are like the epoxy bond,
Strong and true and hard to break,
A force of nature, you respond,
To life's challenges, with each step you take.

So come as you "r", and take your place,
With pride and grace, in all you do,
For you are a symbol of true grace,
And we admire the light that shines in you.

Owen- That poem is “scary good”. The rhythm is a little off sometimes, but it is powerful. Phrases like “cubic heart”, “epoxy bond”, “admire the light” move me. Plus, this app can create rhymes better than me LOL!

Wow! Amazing Wednesday poetry today!

Enjoyed your verse, Ol'Man Keith, but didn't get the 'pips'? Do they have anything to do with CE's 'piper'?

You did an interesting thing, CanadianEh!, turning the U R into RUM. And your piper is much more likely to be able to produce a tune than OMK's pips. Still, glad their epoxy worked.

My goodness, Owen, your were over the top today with your amazing verses, also starting and ending with those U and R letters, YoU aRe really, really clever--many thanks for your offering.

Glad you got your Wordle in 5 tries, Wilbur--well done. And you had a great Wordle too, CE.

Owen ~ That ChatGPT is brilliant, certainly superior to my work, and indeed to the average posting on our blog.
It is both encouraging and frightening, an eerie glimpse of the AI future.
Truth….

Misty ~ “Pips” are the spots on dice.
