The Pied Piper is a horror story.
If you're a rat, it's really gory.
Forced to dance against your will,
Then to follow down the hill.

The music may sound light and frisky,
But for rat vermin, it's very risky!
And for the vermin of town burghers,
It led to some retraction murmurs.

The rats had a moment in the lake
To regret their dancing, watery fate.
Was it ditto for the burgher's children,
As they vanished from the field of vision?

Who can tell, it's just a story
On paying up -- an allegory.

Strange things lead to the Florida question.
Why do Floridians make such an impression?
Has the sun drove them mad?
Are they as weird as your Dad?
Or has their rum caused a tropical depression?

One of the J words was 3/5 of the W. How convenient!

"Animal Aid"

Getting glasses gave the kiddo
a whole new field of vision.
And in addition, ditto,
he made a neat decision.

Garden animals he would frisk
so they would not be at risk.
And he found a big, wide bin
to protect the weakest vermin.

For years this plan he did follow
and in the end so much he knew
that to college he decided to go
and became a veterinarian pro.

Yield of Fission

Lab work is not void of risk;
Combining solutions with a whisk
In all those test tubes, vials and flasks,
May cause exploding glass.
Ditto for those whose job is nuclear;
Follow the guidelines and adhere.
However min or max the splitting,
Energy will come spitting.

OMK- FLN- my teeth are gritting just thinking of the kazoos playing your anthem. Yes, I was not really keen on the heavenly harp and kazoo combination either (but the J word had to be incorporated.

Interesting title today, not far from mine. I hid my vermin, but you have the pair looking for theirs. I still marvel at how you can get all the J words into an imaginative but short haiku.

Owen and OMK- i had not noticed the similarity of the W and that J word. And you both used it as a guess while I was in a totally different mindset.
Owen- have you given us a cryptic W poem with the W to be deduced from the end of the first line? (State abbreviation and word synonym?)
And I marvel too at your ability to get the Js into a poem full of allegory. Those fairy tales and children’s stories have some scary stuff in them.

Misty- what a wonderful rhyme. Your kiddo (I love the rhyme with ditto) used those new glasses well to frisk those animals for vermin (I’m not sure why he was protecting those vermin though?). But I’m sure he will be a knowledgeable vet.

I took my W and the J words to the lab, but hid two of them, and thus could go in a different direction. Did you find them?

OwenKL said...

CEh!, Not void of risk, however minimal. And you found my W correctly.

Thanks Owen. I becoming a good detective.

Yes Owen, you found the one, and I gave away the other in my note to OMK

Delightful Saturday poetry--many thanks, everybody.

Ol' Man Keith, how funny to have people frisking each other!

Owen, great to think of a Pied Piper as paying up.

Canadian, I loved the way you put everything into a laboratory, with lab work involving exploding glass!

Looking forward to your verse, Wilbur, as always!

OMK, I see you're not adhering to expert mode

Owen, I thought your W hint was FLorida (Ask) (a) question

And yes, Florida's can be wierd, especially when driving. I've thought of pulling them over and Baker Acting them

Wilbur Charles said...

Okay Misty, per your request...

Ditto, Chet, I too knew life as one treated as vermin of the earth
Just a piece of excrement in those horrible days of dearth
If suspected that my field of vision was not the ideal
Subject to stop and frisk followed by complimentary feel

Woohoo! Wilbur, you did it: you got all four Jumble words and the solution into an interesting, nicely rhyming four line poem! Superb!
