Todayโs Jumble haiku:
(In olden times, no government respected a declaration of war unless the enemyโs representative could scare them.
This envoy grumbled that he was stuck with a smiling superior.
He tried to pump him up. โCโmon, Boss, letโs teach these little fish a lesson!โฆโ)
โLetโs Show TheseโAnchovies!โ
The cranky envoy
ushered in his ambassador.
โGive โem a fright, Boss!โ

This one has many rhymes, heaven knows,
so I canโt just say, โFollow your nose.โ
Try this:
When itโs nearly 5 oโclock, it may be time to โ โฆโฆ .โ

Orijinz:
The Devil took his fiddling bit
To a bluegrass championship.
There he sawed,
Picked and clawed,
But his technique was judged unfit!
Pangolins sent an envoy to the aardvark clan
Proposing an alliance against a human plan.
Pest control, they called it, in their human hubris,
Exterminating ants, formicide in extremis!
Myrmecophagous creatures, banding together
To close ranks against this nuoveau fumigator.
They would usher in a war, humans to get a fright;
Their feed stocks they'd defend, though it took a fight!
Fiddling echidnas, they were recruited, too,
Although known to be an unfit and cranky crew.
Much they loved their pizza "ant-chovies"
Still they predicted this war would never be.
"Half all the ants on Earth combined
Outweigh the total of humankind!"
Canadian Eh?, challenge accepted! (I needed that!)

Owen- the Orijinz stumped me today. It took me 1:38 and some red letter help
In this dystopian universe, the chosen maidens were forced to repeat the following
Chant โOvariesโ
The envoy was chosen to close the deal,
Then select only maidens fit as a fiddle,
Usher them in and give them a meal,
Ensure they did not decipher the riddle,
Do nothing to give them a fright,
Or make them cranky overnight.
For if he at this job did fail
There would be no Handmaidโs Tale.
Wonderful Owen. You got the J words, the W, and a different variation of the O (I had to look for it). Iโm glad you rose to the challenge. Need to get my dictionary out for some of your words today.
OMK- your J haiku created a broad smile on my face today. Imagine teaching anchovies a lesson.
Thanks.
"Helpful Usher"
Sheldon worked as an usher
in a movie theater,
where he kept things quiet as a husher,
so the surrounding stayed fair and square.
Scary movies gave viewers a fright
while comedies were a delight.
Some people made noises that were clanky
and that made the audience cranky.
Sheldon here had to act as an envoy,
to make sure all could the movie enjoy.
At intermission, all bought crackers and cheese,
with fancy toppings, like anchovies.
The usher made watching films a success,
and for this his audience did him bless.
Thank you, thank you, for giving us a helpful clue to get today's Wordle, Ol' Man Keith, more than just a bit near.

Much appreciated, again, many thanks.
Dang!
I shoulda split my title, to stress the rhyme, viz.:
โLetโs Show Theseโ
Anchovies!โ
CEh! ~ A brilliant new intro to a โHandmaidโs Taleโ!
Iโm not sure how close it mirrors the original. I guess I should watch it.
Misty ~ Sheldonโs first 2 letters seem to have destined him for his occupation. If he crosses his theater bosses, he can always apply to be a librarianโs assistant. In school, we used to think that was a librarianโs main job!

Misty- I loved your usher/shushed Sheldon. You used all the J words well. Iโm not sure I want to sit in a movie beside someone who has eaten anchovies, and I would be cranky too if they made cranky noises. Bless your Sheldon.
OMK - oh, I did miss the These/Anchovies rhyme. Thanks for editing.
Owen- I managed to include all the J, W, O words again today. And I completed the puzzle in 56 seconds. Thanks for that poem. Is there somebody in the tree?
Ol' Man Keith, I liked your cranky envoy this morning, and thanks again for all the help you gave us.
Owen, what an interesting assortment of creatures occupied your amazing verse this morning. I think you would make an excellent zoo-keeper. But I just hope all those ants don't organize and come after us.
CanadianEh!, Your feminist/maybe-not-quite-feminist verse intrigued me and I will try to remember to look up the Handmaid's Tale tomorrow. And thank you for your sweet wishes for Sheldon.
Have a good night's sleep, everybody.
