The evening began to drag on,
While an inept waiter lagged on,

Things needed to be better coached
At the Burns supper that was bragged on.
OMK- great dragon haiku. You took the title in a slightly different direction than I did. My title relies on a rudimentary knowledge of the traditional composition of that Scottish national dish.
I think I have had my fill of yucky food this week.
"Timely Tour"
Debbie was quite inept
which put her in serious debt.
She tried for loans to file,
but got nothing for quite a while.
Then a friend gave her a toy dragon
and she hooked it up with a wagon.
Its picture sold and managed to bring
her some cash she did carefully string.
One night Debbie went out to eat dinner
and met a man who seemed like a winner.
The next day they started to date,
And Debbie now has a generous mate.

I guess you mean my rhymes for you, Misty. That first line deals with a rule breaker, although the other lines don't.
(The hipster is legit here in California; the dad is hardly a rule breaker.)
Your comment doesn't seem to match my haiku at all--unless I am missing something.
Your Debbie seems fortunate in her friends, first a pal who helps her make a sellable picture, and then of course a husband who treats her generously.

You remind me of a Bobbie Burns Night I was invited to celebrate when I lived in Virginia.

Misty- poor inept Debbie with a debt and more credit for a loan. Her Etsy site must have garnered her a good income for that dragon with a wagon picture. Who would have guessed it. But as OMK notes, her luck in finding a generous husband has really saved the day.
OMK- Iโm glad you enjoyed the memories my poem evoked, especially since they donโt include actually eating haggis.
Keith, you're right that the Dad in your haiku is a good father. But I figured smoking weed and poaching hunted animals were, if not illegal, not exactly proper. But what do I know?
