Please do not reveal any of the day's solutions until after Noon (Pacific time) / 3 pm (Eastern Time). However hints are encouraged, and words can be hidden by embedding them in longer comments, especially if tense, number, or part of speech is altered. However, do not draw attention to them by using ALL CAPS, bold, or any other emphasis!

This blog was started 9 July 2018. It is a spin-off from the Crossword Corner, which is devoted to the LA Times crossword puzzle. Owen's Jumble poems started there a month earlier, 9 June 2018

The daily jumble is available many places online. On Sundays two Jumbles are produced, one in the daily format (J4 - 4 clue words plus a riddle), and also a larger one (J6 - 6 clue words plus a different riddle). They are available at several newspaper websites. A few are listed below.

Jumble was created in 1954 by Martin Naydel. Henri Arnold and Bob Lee took over the feature in 1962 and continued for about 30 years. Since 2011, Jumble is created by David L. Hoyt (writer) (Wiki) and Jeff Knurek (cartoonist) (Wiki). Tribune Content Agency owns the JUMBLE trademarks and copyrights, and it is distributed by Andrews McMeel Syndication. Daily and Sunday Jumble puzzles appear in over 650 newspapers in the United States and internationally.

This blog has no connection to Tribune Content Agency, Andrews McMeel Syndication, UClick, Shockwave, Puzzle Society, or any other commercial site.

Site Descriptions

The interfaces on the Jumble home site and Shockwave are nearly the same. Shockwave turns the day over around 6pm-ish, but erases the results once the last letter is entered. The home site turns over the day around midnight, but leaves the results showing when completed. The puzzles are 5-5-6-6 letter words seven days a week.

USA Today has a less flexible interface, and the same puzzles as the others Monday thru Saturday, but a larger 6-6-6-6-6-6 words puzzle on Sundays.

The Chicago Tribune has the same daily puzzle as the others Mon.-Sat., and the 6-6-6-6-6-6 version (with a different URL) Sunday, but it has a simplified interface for mobiles and perhaps for voice readers. It is black and white, and no tiles you can move around with a mouse. Letters must be typed in. When letters are typed in, those correctly placed go in black, but incorrect letters go in red. This can be turned off in the settings menu. What I like about it is that the riddle answer can be typed in before the other four or six words have been solved.

There are a number of other places on the Net with answers to the Jumbles, and a few with discussions, tho unlike this one, all start out by giving the answers. http://dailygameanswers.com has the cartoon, but no discussion. Ones that do are https://jumbleanswer.com/ has very lively discussions and usually a poem, https://unclerave.wordpress.com/ will have commentary and sometimes discussion. The last two also include detailed verbal descriptions of the cartoon. I'll add others as I find them.
