The City Maintenance Engineer is a job like any others,
Except for the complaints about wobbly manhole covers.
Tattlers tell the media, "There should be 'woman holes'."
Followed by myriad nasty jokes about a tampon's roles!

It's a job that lacks the glitz and glory of dog catcher,
When sewer grills in bike lanes are aligned to cause disaster!
People want new water lines when the old are almost gone,
But no one wants to have a trench dug across their lawn!

Drivers want the medians to be kept neat and green,
Then do their best to litter so they'll never be too clean!
Traffic lights are always sure to make kvetchers red!
They want it 'go' from any way, but then get stopped instead!

I love your poem today, Owen. It really goes with the jumble, and parts if it are so unfortunately true. But worse than dog catcher? Poor engineer!
I found the jumble clues quite easy today, though the solution took a few extra seconds. Clever.

When I saw the long Jumble solution, I expected a real struggle. But each of the 4 items filled in without any problem, and that gave me a helpful (traffic) signal to go on to the reveal. And there it was! Great Saturday morning experience, made even better by Owen's poem.

I've clearly gotten better at these. My brain just seems to be like an AI computer, learning and getting better through experience. I had a hard time all over again just now trying to figure out or remember the 'ditch' word.

The final punny answer looked harder than usual but IT all fell into place once I sussed the two-letter word.

Nap time...

Among your many talents, Owen, you have a real knack for detail. Who else would assign to a City ME the job of aligning sewer grills at a proper angle for bike tires? (And who else appreciates the glamour of being a dog catcher?!)

Easy & Peasy.
Yep. Go for the shortest word first.
But with one as easy as this, the whole thing filled in at once.

I agree. I had to work for#4 and list all the letters but one word stood out . Certain combinations usually go together.

I had an idea we'd have a good poem today. I recall wondering how owenwas going to fit CLEFT in with other words the other day .

Tell us that"Tampon" joke sometime .

Interesting subject for Florida discussion is Wild pig encroachment . How did sherlocSput it ? "The conversation ranged from..." Ours ended up naturally with Gators and pythons.

We have a gator in the sluice in back that just can't wait for Mama ducks hatchlings to venture in.

Words 1, 2, and 3 only had 1 vowel for 5, and 6 letter words. On word 3 I wanted the "th" to be the last letters. On the sol. I had the second word on first until I saw the light.
