Travis was uneasy. The feeling wouldn't go away.
He'd been going about his duties, he shouldn't feel this way.
He'd spent the day with Senators as his lobbyist craft.
Telling them to vote his way (contributions were not graft).
As he left the capital, two burly gents accosted him.
They "invited" him to a party -- just they, and he, and Slim.
They escorted him to an S.U.V., demonstrated tying knots.
When Travis asked who Slim was, they wouldn't say a lot.
They drove him to a suburb, behaving oddly cautious.
He felt relief and fear when they reached an F.B.I. field office.
Slim was sitting in a lounge-chair, barking at an underling.
Travis was presented. Slim asked, "So, lobbying is your thing?"
(To be continued -- determined by tomorrow's words.)
I can't believe I'm the first to post! And as usual, Owen, your poem is so appropriate. I can't wait for the next one.
The first three words unfolded with ease but the fourth took some work and I instantly saw the solve! It's very cute! I, however, have no time to lounge in my recliner today.
Owen, what fun!!! I can’t wait to see what happens to Travis tomorrow! Thanks for the fun
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Owen. I just couldn't get that fourth word, even though I struggled and struggled, and so came here for help. I read the first line of your poem, and Voila! I got it. The solution then came immediately, and made me so happy! So, thank you again, I couldn't have done it without you. Now I can take it easy all day, especially since my Dusty doesn't bark, thank goodness.
I had some trouble with the fourth word too, and resorted to my normal practice when one clue word doesn't pop out: solve with the rest of the letters and work back. Since the solution didn't present a knotty problem, this did the job. I do notice that a word with more vowels than consonants seems difficult -- for me at least.
This poem is raising my suspense level significantly, Owen. And after the way you integrated all these disparate words today, I'm really looking forward to what will happen to Travis with a six-clue Sunday.
I had trouble the last two days finding solving time, especially since the X's were tough and Friday's J DEARLY perplexed me .
And despite finally having not only all the letters but even trying ABLE for the second word I failed.
I just did Saturday's J in 3 minutes . Two of them on #4 .
So now I know who the Travis is who also made an appearance over at CC. I think my son had a friend by that name .
WC
Ps . I hope this doesn't get lost in the ETHER(c CC)-I just couldn't see how ETHER could be a NUMB-er .
Also .For DEARLY . Unlike most J words only the second and fourth had to be switched. One of the "strategies" (OMK????) is to assume the letters have to be repositioned.
Funny, though it too was difficult, I did get GEYSER when I worked at it.
