There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
We've all see pics of Clark Kent, who is changing in a rush. Superman must catch a boulder, before those below are mush! But the scene you never see, it wouldn't seem a seam-ly quirk, Before becoming Clark again, he re-sews the buttons on his shirt!
The Hulk gets big and green, and his clothes reduce to tatters. Like Doctor Jekyll after drinking, his raiment hardly matters. And yet he stays respectable, he never shreds his pants. If he were given to flashing, he'd have girls on him like ants!
And then there's Sherlock Holmes, he fits the super-hero format. His perception power's uncanny, he'll notice fibers on a floor mat! His Boswell, Doctor Watson, scribes away with pen and ink-stand. Then he publishes his stories with the firm that prints The Strand!
I tried this one before drifting to sleep. I got the 4 prelims easily enough, but w/o pencil & paper to solve the final answer, the *#@! J kept me awake. Sleeplessness was compounded when our Golden, Maggie, kept whining downstairs. My wife went down twice to let her out, then resorted to shushing her - loudly - from our bed. When she started to go down a third time, I said No, she had done enough. So I'm sitting with Maggie now. With time on my hands and with a pen and the back of an envelope, the final answer came.
I credit Maggie, the whinging retriever, for today's solution.
Since I was drinking coffee the first word seemed inspired and I saw them all in a flash. For the third one, though, I had to go through some mental gymnastics but got them all and the final. Tada! This is very timely for me since I'll be looking for a mattress in the next few days. The carpet installer arrived!
I was out for a luncheon today so didn't get to this Jumble until afternoon. But no problem. All four items fell into place quickly. And the reveal took a minute or two, but I held firm and got it! Yay!

I needed a hint on the first letter of word 3, but all else came easily.
I solve the J before posting. I found each word in the poem, but I wouldn't have noticed them as hints to the J.
You were super in your super-hero poem.
Excellent specificity as to each hero! The detail alone is impressive.

For anyone seeking a hint, the final answer rhymes with hand germ.
