The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

CAUTION:
The letters for the 1st clue of J6 should be VIEIDD.

Oh dear, no Owen poems. Yet. We miss you, Owen. Hope you can check in with us in a little while.
Well, Ol'Man Keith, your gloss confirmed my first Queen Elizabeth word, but not the second--yet. Will have to work on that one a bit more.
Well, the j4 wasn't a problem, and I thought the solution was pretty cute.
But I have to admit that the j6 defeated me. Or I let it defeat me. The second clue just wouldn't come to me, though, thanks to the Tribune's jumble website I did have the correct letters for the first clue, which made it easy. But I looked at all those letters and the two long solution words and tiredly gave up. Jumbleanswers.com gave me the really very clever pun.
Hope to see a poem or two later. Maybe after a nap.
Decided to see if the answer to the Queen Elizabeth cartoon was a spoonerism, and got it! Yay! Thanks, Ol'Man Keith.
Any way we can check to see if Owen is okay? I'm getting more and more worried.
Glad the Spoonerism helped, Misty. While they are rare, they can be either funny or useful, sometimes both at once.
I think it is too soon to worry about Owen. He was posting regularly here and on F'book through Friday.
We have encouraged him to reward himself with days off, so shouldn't be too quickly alarmed when he does so.
Enjoy your holiday weekend, Owen y Mowren!

Wow, I missed two of the J's. I looked up SPUTEM but needed another U. So close. And the relatively easy #5 managed to escape me.
Hopefully with all the letters, given I had the first riddle word with no letters, I could have been victorious.
Who'd ever have thought Queen Vic's record would have been surpassed. Then again, Lou Gehrig's record seemed safe.
Do I have poetry in me. I did get a few out late yesterday.

Thanks, Ol'Man Keith, and makes perfect sense that Owen might want to enjoy a quiet weekend. And you and Wilbur and Sandy are managing the corner here quite well. I just looked at that morning Queen Elizabeth cartoon again-- very cute. Have a good week coming up, everybody.
Yes, the QE2 cartoon is a cute one, with pretty good drawings of Liz and the ever-handsome Duke of Edinburgh.
(And thank goodness he's seated in the back seat this time!)
