Today’s Jumble haiku:
“Wean Well”
The swanky lawyer
sautéed his plums, straight up, in
pans on the stove, plumb.

The other Bot
starter, the S-
word…
This wordle’s a race for the roses,
not as hard as everyone supposes.
I drove my sulky
(2 wheels, not bulky)
turning heads—and not a few noses!
~ OMK
Imperial America, the citizens were sullen.
The Counsul: Kentucky was a Russian.
Twenty-fifth century
Still has bigotry,
Russky-hating was under discussion!

Not one to let his character improve with age or experience, our esteemed barrister commands a steep retainer.
We ain’t Mellow
The lawyer sought a fancy fee,
He plumbed the depths of ignominy.
His swanky clients lined his pockets,
And filled his day with dockets.
He refused a case too bulky,
But he was never sulky.
OMK- that was a hard J reveal to use for a title. You had a swanky lawyer, while I had swanky clients.
Owen has hidden the W very well today.
I used a difficult J word on today's.

I like choosing an odd starter and seeing where it takes me
WC
"Cook Crook"
The chef's story he meant to tell
his lawyer didn't go well.
The recipe he tried to saute
was plumb dumb and made diners cranky.
And so he went out of his way
to order a take-out that was rich and fancy.
Now his diners are planning to sue,
and the chef his procedure does rue.
CEh! ~ On a day you explore a backstory (Brava!), I drop mine in favoring an imagist approach.
Perhaps this befits the true haiku spirit, whereas your delving into a fully rhymed exploration of character can use as much detail as can be included.
I like knowing his commitment to pocket linings and that cases can grow beyond briefs into “bulky”-ness!
WooHoo!

WC ~ Zum Gabe, mein Herr!
Your self-dare paid off this time.
I usually take the common approach, hoping for a starter that will clear my path. Yours is a braver tactic. Today you were able to work it against the odds for a quick conclusion.
You deserve applause!
Misty ~ Your chef didn’t get away with his last-minute tactic, I see, but your verse warrants kudos—especially your idiomatic use of “plumb”—in a manner befitting Gabby Hayes!

Thank you for the kind comment, Ol' Man Keith--I liked your haiku "plumb" even better than mine. But I'd love to have you explain the reference to Gabby Hayes to me--who turns out to be a Western movie actor named 'George 'Gabby' Hayes, I discovered, when I looked him up. He wasn't much of a chef, was he?
I also liked your lawyer, CanadianEh!. I just hope he doesn't end up suing my chef.
Great Wordles, everybody! Am I the only one who hasn't produced one today? Should I give it a try?
Can't believe it: I used a word one of you mentioned this morning as my first Wordle entry, and amazingly, it turned out to be correct! My first single-entry Wordle ever:

Thank you for the hint! Would love to get one every day! Woohoo!
Misty ~ Gabby Hayes was the sidekick to Roy Rogers. Roy was my own favorite cowboy actor when I was a kid--back in the years before he married Dale Evans. He was the perfect rough-ridin' cowboy--in all his scenes when he wasn't singing as the front man for the Sons of the Pioneers.
He rode a beautiful palomino named Trigger.
And as I said, Gabby was his sidekick, and as such he was the very model--or so I thought--of an old Coot, a tobacco-chewin', dirty, unshaven, foul-mouthed type, typical of an over-the-hill grandpappy who spoke the slang jargon of the old West. He would certainly use the word "plumb" as you have.
When I get the Wordle in one try, it is always because I have seen it hinted too literally. I know it feels good to have it accepted, but I don't think we should count it as a win.

I don't think I can do YouTube, OMK, but if I give it a try and it works, I'll let you know. Thanks again for all the fun Gabby Hayes info and discussion.

Someone tried posting a haiku on Facebook, but the syllable count was wrong.
I liked the message, so I edited it. Here’s the salvaged version…

First, calm down. Next, stay that way
the rest of your life.
